    Hotly Pursuing Climate Solutions

I’m not proud of raising money. They say that congratulating an entrepreneur for raising money is like celebrating a chef for buying ingredients. Don’t get me wrong, this is still a HUGE milestone. But not because we raised money. It’s because of the people who have joined our mission in a material way. First and foremost, we’re welcoming Jane Kearns to the board at Planetary. When we closed the round, Jane immediately came to our side of the table. She said “now, tell me everything that’s not going well. I want to help.”. And true to her word, she’s jumped right into all the mess that is running a startup and began adding tremendous value right away. I know that Jane and the whole Evok Innovations team have our back. That’s not every founder’s board experience and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have them on our team. Every one of our new investors have jumped onboard with the same energy. Q Motiwala, Ashish Motivala and the whole DNX Ventures team are actively working on business development for us. Matt Stanley and the BDC team as well as Kathryn Wortsman, Louis Delorme, CPA, CFA and the Amplify Capital team are actively working to ensure that I stay informed and engaged in building a sustainable and resilient business. Thank you to you all and welcome to the team! Now let’s go cook up a better world together!

🌊 Exciting news from Planetary Technologies! We are thrilled to announce that we’ve secured $11.35 million in Series A funding, led by Evok Innovations, with support from BDC Capital (Canada), Amplify Capital, DNX Ventures, and Iconiq Capital. 🌱 This investment represents a major milestone in our mission to fight #climatechange through ocean-based carbon removal. By enhancing the ocean’s natural ability to absorb and store carbon dioxide, we aim to protect and restore both the #ocean and our climate for future generations. 💬 As our CEO, Mike Kelland, shared: "We’re most excited by the strong alignment that these investors have with our mission. This round enables us to continue leading the way on responsible, science-led development of a critical climate technology. Together, we are building a foundation that will allow us to achieve our vision of protecting and restoring both the ocean and climate for generations." With this funding, we’ll expand our pilot projects, scale operations, and continue demonstrating the safety and effectiveness of our Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE) technology. Collaborating with local communities, researchers, and regulatory bodies remains central to our work as we push forward solutions that are as sustainable as they are impactful. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. We’re excited about what’s next as we work together to create a healthier planet. 🌍 Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/eTFXxjgW #ClimateAction #mCDR #CarbonRemoval #Sustainability #PlanetaryTechnologies

We’re thrilled to announce DNX Ventures investment in Crisp - the pioneering retail collaboration platform - alongside Wellington Management, Prologis, FirstMark, Socium Ventures, and ToshibaTec. We’ve long held the thesis that the retail industry is in need of better data connectivity throughout the entire value chain, from brands to distributors to retailers. We believe that this data connectivity is actually necessary to accomplish the many ambitious goals that the industry has for itself, such as reducing food waste, accelerating retail media, and even realizing the potential of AI. Are Traasdahl, Dag Liodden and the whole CRISP team have built an incredible solution that solves this very issue. We’re so excited to partner with them through this next stage. Li Industries, Inc. Selected for $55 Million Award as Part of Department of Energy Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Effort to Advance Closed-Loop Lithium Iron Phosphate Recycling and Manufacturing Charlotte, NC — September 19 — Li Industries, Inc., a leader in sustainable battery recycling, is proud to announce it has been selected for a $55 million award from the DOE Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC) to drive advancements in lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode active material (CAM) direct recycling and production. This grant supports the establishment of a 10,000 tonne per annum LFP CAM recycling and manufacturing plant. The new facility represents a significant milestone for the domestic and sustainable battery supply chain, strengthening U.S. competitiveness in lithium-ion battery (LIB) recycling and manufacturing. General Motors (GM) is supporting Li Industries’ development of technology to enable the direct recycling process, and Li Industries is partnering with other industry leaders to build and operate the plant. The facility will focus on reducing production costs and increasing supply chain sustainability. Innovative Recycling Technology for Electric Vehicles and Energy Storage Li Industries’ proprietary Direct Electrode-to-Electrode (Direct E2E™) recycling technology will enable the production of low-cost, sustainable LFP CAM to supply the domestic LIB manufacturing industry. The facility will primarily support electric vehicle and stationary energy storage applications, with an expected production capacity of 5 GWh of LFP CAM annually. By using Direct E2E™ recycling technology, the project is anticipated to reduce domestic LFP CAM production costs by 23% compared to traditional manufacturing processes. The successful implementation of this technology will not only support the growing demand for electric vehicle and stationary energy storage batteries but will also promote a more circular, sustainable supply chain for battery materials in the U.S. About Li Industries, Inc. Li Industries is an innovative and fast-growing climate tech company developing next-generation lithium-ion battery recycling technologies. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Pineville, NC, Li Industries has developed scalable direct recycling technologies for lithium-ion batteries from electric vehicles and consumer electronics. Li Industries' unique and patented direct recycling process can recycle all types of lithium-ion batteries and generate high purity commercial-grade battery materials faster, cheaper, and cleaner, enabling effective and sustainable recycling. Is it better to have AI that is safe but insecure or AI that is secure but unsafe? At DNX Ventures’ Japan-US Cybersecurity Summit, Kris Harms, our cybersecurity-focused Principal, discussed Securing Knowledge in the AI Age with Sounil Yu, Chief AI Security Officer and co-founder of Knostic. Some key insights: 1. Future AI safety and AI security challenges may vastly overshadow our current cybersecurity issues 2. Rather than myopically focusing on data privacy, we need to prioritize “Knowledge Privacy” 3. The prevailing approach of restricting the data provided to LLMs fails to address the deeper issue of securing knowledge itself To learn how we can climb the DIKW pyramid securely, read the full blog: https://lnkd.in/gz4ZMPKf
