Our priority right now is the safety and well-being of our team and community partners as we recover from recent extreme weather events in North Carolina and Georgia. 🔹 Ensuring Staff Safety: Several of our staff members have been directly impacted, facing displacement and lack of basic resources. We’re providing emergency funds and extended leave to ensure they have the essentials needed to stay safe and healthy. 🔹 Supporting Community Partners: We’re actively working with partners in the hardest-hit areas, such as the Concerned Citizens of Cook County, who are on the ground providing aid in Adel and Lumber City, GA. 🔹 Asheville Recovery: We’re supporting Hood Huggers International, a key partner in our Asheville homebase, as they lead recovery efforts in the most affected neighborhoods. Our Executive Director, Danna Smith, has an important update regarding Dogwood Alliance and the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Thank you for supporting us during this challenging time.

Hurricane Helene left a wake of destruction across the South. It deeply impacted many of the people across our region. Our thoughts and prayers are with families and communities. Western North Carolina, where many Dogwood Alliance staff are based was devastated and we still not heard from some of our people. We will be offline for the week and doing all we can to ensure the safety and well-being of our staff, families and communities.
