I love mornings! I love waking up before the sun is up, before the kids start their day, so I can enjoy my cup of coffee in silence. I feel the most productive and have the most energy earlier in the day. So every year during October -Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month- I love signing up for the early shift and visiting our law enforcement friends for roll call 💜 ☕. Doorways cannot do this work alone, and our partners at Arlington County Police Department work around the clock keeping our community safe and supporting survivors at a critical time in their lives. A recent The Washington Post article called much-needed attention to the adverse impacts #VOCA funding cuts are having on local shelters and their ability to provide life-saving services to the people they serve.
