🎉 In honor of #NationalInternDay, join us in spotlighting CfA intern Jacob Sagers! 🎉 Jacob is an undergraduate student at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, majoring in political science and French, with minors in data analytics and Arabic. He interned as part of CfA’s Communications, Culture, and Training team this summer, where he observed firsthand the integration of data and AI across the department. For his summer capstone project, Jacob built an interactive dashboard analyzing past U.S. Department of State Data and AI for Diplomacy Award submissions, giving CfA a centralized view of these data and AI use cases across the Department. From Jacob: “Interning at State has made me realize the potential of AI and data. AI enhances the Department of State's work rather than replacing it. Forthcoming policies and usage will be vital to the future of diplomacy. My internship has positively influenced my career plans, and I now aspire to work in a space that incorporates cutting-edge technology into International Relations.” Upon completion of his internship, Jacob intends to return to Utah and graduate next spring. He aspires to start graduate studies the following year, with the goal of embarking on a career in public service within the Department of State. He hopes to continue working with the integration of data science into the art of diplomacy. Thank you, Jacob, for all your fantastic work these past few months!
