Episode 353 is here! 🎙 Kevin Oakley is joined by Julie Jarnagin and Jen Barkan, kicking off this episode with a brilliant note about the truth. While it can often be "old" wisdom (not a new idea or concept) it will never really "get old." So it is important as marketers that while we strive to innovate and create new ideas, we always stay rooted in values and truth. Link to listen in the comments!

I learned a lot about life in high school, but often in surprising places... In my honors chemistry class, the teacher went to great lengths to explain that if you already know the desired result, you can always make it happen. That sounds... pretty cool at first glance, except that whatever you did to get the result you wanted is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 science at all. Practical application: be very cautious what incentives you use with your own team leaders and outside partners. You are creating an incentive for them to make sure the result of their actions hits that result - all other results be damned. Or - as Charlie Munger put it “𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆.” 🎯 Incentive statement: "Hey marketer - your job is to create leads" Outcome: Lead quantity becomes the goal, not quality Incentive statement: "OSC team - we need you to set appointments." Outcome: Appointment volume becomes the goal without vetting Incentive statement: "Sales team - IMPROVE YOUR RATIOS!" Outcome: Traffic and appointments are under-reported - and ratios improve The goal of every member of your marketing, online sales, and onsite sales team 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬. They all have their own direct ways to contribute, but their highest value is always working for the better of the other parts of the team - not in maximizing their own results to please a manager, division president, or owner who doesn't understand the bigger picture. ✌🏻 #marketproofmarketing #newhomesales #onlinesales #newhomemarketing #NAHB #WhatsNext #DYCSummit

Episode 351 of the MPM podcast is out! 🎙 Julie Jarnagin leans into authenticity on builder websites, noting that "easy" isn't the most accurate term when it comes to the building process. However, "worth it" is messaging that resonates more, while still garnering excitement. Watch or listen via the link in the comments!
