So we completed the first cohort of AI Demystified - how busy professionals can use large language models to enhance their productivity. Thanks to Daniel Chang, Siddarth Sridhar, and the Maven team for a great partnership, and to our first cohort for trusting us. Here are a few of my takeaways: 1) Large language models (LLMs) are tools, a means to an end. Like electricity. If I learn to wield them well, I have access to great power. 2) While LLM capabilities put immense power in the hands of practically anybody, it also creates a race to the bottom for those who want to flex their newly-found muscles to flood other people with easy-to-create, mediocre content. 3) There is a road less traveled that is not necessarily a race. It’s slower and more thoughtful than the race to the bottom. However, it's still certainly faster and more differentiated than where we’ve been. That road is about learning the tools and using them to amplify my individually unique expression. AI allows me to take my creativity and further, faster. 4) Human + AI > AI alone (or human alone). For example: AI can create great marketing copy, but only I can create copy that is uniquely me - with my viewpoint and quirks. With AI as my sidekick, I can create faster and more consistently than ever before. It is an amplifier of my uniqueness. Some are calling this Augmented Intelligence. 5) With great power comes great responsibility. Just because I can doesn’t mean I must. We have a lot to learn still about the broader impact on intellectual property, diversity, data privacy, and much more. It’s worthwhile to think about the broader ethical implications, some of which will inevitably be negative. If you'd like to sign up for the next cohort's waitlist see the first comment.
