Georgia is home to more than 22 million acres of working forests and expansive coastal wetlands, which are vital to combating climate change. To help educate and empower our Compact members, the Forest Carbon Working Group hosted an expert workshop on Georgia-grown forest carbon removals. Key marketplace and educational leaders made presentations addressing how to maximize carbon removal, leverage new economic opportunities for landowners, and protect biodiversity in the state. We’re so happy to see more #cleantech innovation in Georgia’s transportation sector. Compact member Blue Bird Corporation has just received $80 million from the federal government to convert their Georgia site to produce electric school buses. This grant will help boost electric school bus manufacturing in the state and reduce carbon emissions with these next generation buses.
