About us
About DTI Disruptive Technology Index (DTI) is a California non-profit organization supporting the economic and commercial development of the Space Industry. Through our strategic partnerships with SpaceWERX, the State of California, and Los Angeles County's economic development arm, we use our collective resources to help small business firms scale and thrive in the New Space Economy. DTI helps new and emerging space technology companies "bridge" the valley of death by providing education, funding and mentorship through its signature commercialization support program, Innovate to Accelerate (I2A). Annually, I2A supports 60 companies through its cohort programming enabling $964 million dollars in government funding and $319 million dollars in private investments. About THE BR-DGE DTI operates an outreach program called THE BR-DGE. THE BR-DGE is an outreach program for technology transfer and transition (T3). The program is powered by Disruptive Technology Index (DTI), a California nonprofit, in partnership with SpaceWERX, the US Space Force’s innovation arm for technology advancement. We support small businesses as they leverage the Small Business Administration’s SBIR/STTR program and aim to help further commercialize their dual-use technology efforts through programming and ecosystem building. With the sector projected to grow from $630 billion in 2023 to $1.8 trillion by 2035, THE BR-DGE serves as the center of gravity supporting entrepreneurs building space capabilities for the rapidly growing space economy.

Did you spot R² (Rebecca Jeffrey and Rakhee Khambhati) this weekend at the Army-Navy Football Game? 🇺🇲 🏈 As Army and Navy faced off in one of the most celebrated rivalries in sports, R²—our dynamic duo—found themselves on opposite sides, cheering on their respective alma maters at the field of friendly strife. For service academy graduates, the journey from the battlefield to the boardroom is driven by the same values: teamwork, resilience, and a commitment to mission. Dual-use innovation builds on those principles, equipping military leaders with tools that enhance mission readiness and drive global progress. At DTI, we’re proud to support the next generation of leaders and innovators shaping the future of defense and technology—just like the Army-Navy game reminds us, progress happens when rivalry meets respect. #ArmyNavyGame #AmericasGame #DualUseTech #NationalSecurity #MissionDrivenInnovation #USAA #Palantir

STRATFI awardee, Varda Space Industries, secured a four-year, $48 million Phase III contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory to test military payloads on the company’s reentry capsules at hypersonic speeds. Their factory-in-orbit spacecraft satellite is engineered to produce high-value materials such as pharmaceuticals in zero-gravity conditions. The materials are returned to Earth in a capsule built with advanced thermal protection materials developed by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration to withstand reentry. The new contract builds on Varda’s prior collaboration with the United States Air Force and their $60 million STRATFI contract to adapt its capsules for hypersonic testing.
