Students in a new class at Duke taught by shep moyle, "Luxury, Wealth and Happiness," recently set out to spread happiness to others across Duke. While the class focused on the psychology and business of luxury for the first 6 weeks of the semester, they have now pivoted to studying happiness. Moyle created The Happiness Project, which asked students to come up with ideas of how to spread happiness to others. Moyle shares: "I wanted to test the ideas of how does it feel and mean to bring happiness to others. From calling people to tell them they loved them, to gratefulness boards, to giving and getting compliments, to petting puppies and sharing what they valued in their partner , students experienced the joy of bringing happiness not only to others but for themselves."
