It was a moment of pride and celebration for me last week. Serving as the President of the illustrious Federal Bar Association SDNY Chapter has been a tremendous privilege and the most rewarding honor of my career. When I took on this responsibility, I was very excited because I had seen firsthand what a difference the Federal Bar Association makes to the legal community. Turns out I had underestimated the power of the FBA platform and the fulfillment you get when volunteering for a greater cause! The theme for my term was to increase engagement - with the members, with the bench and with other bar associations. And I am proud that we accomplished every goal we set for ourselves, thanks to my amazing board and team! From being set to becoming an accredited CLA provider for the first time to starting the Judges Lunch & Learn series to launching the Judicial Intern Academy for law students to forming structured committees, there was a LOT of positive energy! We continued to inspire our younger lawyers with our Talking with Trailblazer series! We also participated in Capitol Hill Day and met with congress members to advocate for bipartisan judicial legislation! And we did so much more! I have loved EVERY minute of this incredible journey because there was always so much passion and purpose behind it! I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity to help make a difference! And doing it as the first Asian American simply made it extra special! But the best unexpected benefit was meeting phenomenal FBA members, some of whom have become dear friends! Special thank you to Chief Judge Laura Swain for her support over the months/years, Judge Dale Ho for doing the honors, and all other SDNY judges for their support! Thanks to the many affinity bar associations for your valuable partnerships!  And thank you Dunnington, Bartholow & Miller LLP for your constant support of this important work! Earlier this month, we were graced by the presence and intelligence of Olivera Medenica CIPP/US, CIPM, Adjunct Professor at Brooklyn Law School and Cardozo School of Law, partner at Dunnington, Bartholow & Miller LLP, and Fashion Law expert. Her visit is part of our collaboration with the Federal Bar Association and the AAPI - Association des Avocats en Propriété Industrielle, for whom we host their bi-annual Fashion Law Conference. She is also one of the first guests to stay in our recently renovated Visiting Professor Apartment available for rent for select scholars. Who wants to stay there next?
