E4 Bioscience is excited to release, “How to Set Up a Clinical Laboratory Stewardship Program.” It’s a 5-minute read that discusses the strategic planning and implementation of a stewardship program for CLIA regulated labs aiming to improve patient health and economic outcomes through optimizing testing use. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gFH2_g8V To prepare this article, the leadership team at E4 Bioscience relied on over a decade of experience working with small and medium sized clinical laboratories and healthcare providers to onboard new tests and collect data about provider ordering patterns and patient outcomes. We hope that laboratory leadership teams find the overview helpful. #CLIA #laboratory #stewardship

E4 Bioscience managing partner, Shaun R. Opie, PhD is presenting to the students at the Morehouse School of Medicine on Aug 22nd, 2024. He'll be discussing 1) the legal pathways for cannabis rescheduling and descheduling, 2) how variation in state-to-state regulations contributes to differential safety profiles, and 3) how inconsistent intra-laboratory test results leads to lower revenue, talent drain, and decreased industry credibility.

Receiving a fine from a regulatory agency is annoying, expensive, avoidable, and damages reputation. The Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency publishes disciplinary guidelines for violations of the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act (MMFLA), the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act (MRTMA), or the associated administrative rules. The link to the ***27 pages*** of potential violations and fines is posted in the comments below. If you have a MI cannabis testing facility, the benefits of converting these guidelines into a quality management system checklist should be obvious: it will support keeping your laboratory compliant, fine-free, and conform to many ISO/IEC 17025:2017 expectations (management review, internal audits, actions to address risks and opportunities, etc.) E4 Bioscience works closely with laboratories across the US to prepare and implement checklists related to regulatory matters. If your laboratory has a history of being fined, consider working with one of our quality and compliance specialists to help plan an administrative rule review and avoid the repetitional and financial consequences of fines.

#Cannabis #rescheduling evokes visceral responses, many of which are factually incorrect. As part of my preparation for the cannabis rescheduling panel discussion at the recent Association of Food and Drug Officials 128th annual meeting, I read an excellent textbook review chapter about the administrative PROCESS. I'll add a link to read in the comments. While it does not opine about the OUTCOMES or EFFECTS, this should be mandatory reading for anyone who has a connection to or interest in shaping the future of medical marijuana. Many thanks to Scott Bloomberg, Alex Harriman, and Shane Pennington for this helpful and timely overview. Writing a 60 page textbook chapter with relevant references is a heavy lift!

Policy position: E4 Bioscience believes that authors should follow the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors for disclosure of generative AI contributions for published materials.
How many cannabis scientists incorporate #generativeAI in their writing? Should you acknowledge use of #AI in your #cannabis posters, presentations, and publications? As a regular publisher of peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed educational content, I've always followed the guidelines put forth by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). I was recently reviewing the guidelines with Jamie Toth and realized that they have been updated to address just this question. A friendly reminder to my fellow authors: EXCLUDING a contributor (i.e. ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc...) suffers from the same ethical issues as INCLUDING contributor who do not meet ICMJE guidelines. Unfortunately, I'm not attending either the Emerald Conference or Cannabis Science Conference - Spring this year :( To my friends and friends to be, can you send me a pic of any poster with an AI acknowledgment?

As our company tagline suggests - The Cannabis Laboratory Experts - we strive to help improve the cannabis industry anytime analytical testing is involved. Unfortunately, sometimes that involves expensive lawsuits. To help our fellow cultivation and laboratory scientists understand what makes for a good legal expert witness, we published a short educational guide. #cannabiseducation #marijuanaindustry #cannabislaw #cannabisscience https://lnkd.in/eDfaHhv6
