The Trump administration’s freeze on Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funding is unconstitutional, illegal, and harmful to the communities that need it most. This funding freeze is leaving IRA grant recipients with the bill and blocking climate progress. Earthjustice is suing the administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture for illegally withholding the funds. We’re filing this lawsuit on behalf of IRA grant recipients who have been harmed by the freeze in funding for projects.

National monuments may be on the chopping block. Despite bipartisan support for protecting public lands, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum ordered agencies to produce action plans to carry out Trump's "energy first" agenda. Buried in that order are instructions to review all national monuments. We won't let polluters decide the future of our public lands.

"This is not the kind of stately tennis match of the usual switch-over in administrations. This is full on Fight Club," said Abigail Dillen, President of Earthjustice, on the Trump administration's blitz on environmental regulations. Earthjustice is already fighting back with lawsuits against the administration — with many more to come.

Industrial meat production is devastating our climate and our health. It’s hurting rural communities, creating antibiotic resistance, releasing large amounts of the climate super polluter methane, and driving deforestation. We have solutions available now: plant-based beef, cultured meats, and the possibility of producing less food waste. Read my letter to the editor in @The Washington Post for more. We can and must do better to reduce agriculture’s impact on our planet: https://lnkd.in/eu4WCtvz

President Trump's executive order gives oil and gas companies a free pass to drill in public waters—removing protections that permanently protected important undeveloped areas. It's not just reckless, it's illegal. Only Congress has the power to remove these protections. Offshore drilling directly threatens the public health and economic resilience of coastal communities, as well as vital ecosystems. We are standing with our partners and millions of people who would be harmed by this illegal order. See you in court, President Trump.

We’re suing. Today, Earthjustice filed the first major environmental lawsuit against the new Trump administration. President Trump is attempting to illegally open up protected public waters to oil drilling. This move threatens the public health of millions of people who live in coastal communities, economic resilience, and vital ecosystems.

Federal agencies are responsible for making fact-based policy decisions that protect our health, safety, and the environment. To name a few examples, these agencies: ✔️ Set legal limits on toxic pollutants in our air and water ✔️ Oversee the electrical grid that we rely on ✔️ Determine whether chemicals are safe to use The constitution gives Congress–not the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)–control over the funding of federal agencies. Join us in calling on Congress to defend our critical agencies.

"Dillen, a career environmental lawyer, has overseen Earthjustice’s fastest growth spurt in its 54-year-history, tripling its size since she took over leadership in 2018. Now, with a team of more than 200 attorneys, she’s guiding the largest U.S. environmental law nonprofit through the end of the most decisive decade for climate action." Read more in Patagonia's interview with Earthjustice President Abigail Dillen.
What will it take to make progress on the environmental crisis now? Ask the lawyers who took the first Trump administration to court on behalf of our lands, waters and communities. “We can't just be on defense waiting for a better day to come,” says Earthjustice president Abbie Dillen. “Everything needs to have an offensive dimension.” Read on to learn more about how our longtime legal advocacy partners are getting more strategic and assertive. https://lnkd.in/g27d3pKu
