The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is pleased to announce the appointment of LaMont Cole as the new superintendent. Cole has served in various capacities within the education sector for over 20 years, including principal of Park Forest Middle, principal of Capitol Middle School, assistant principal of Westdale Middle School, chief academic officer for ADVANCE Baton Rouge and most recently the chief academic officer of CSAL Inc., a Baton Rouge-based charter school network. Cole also serves as mayor pro tem for the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council. In addition to Cole's appointment, Adam Smith has been named the new deputy Superintendent. Smith has an extensive background in educational administration and curriculum development and most recently served as interim superintendent for EBRPSS. Adam's expertise will be crucial in supporting the district's strategic initiatives and enhancing educational opportunities for all students. Cole and Smith are excited to lead EBR Schools by working closely with educators, parents and the community to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.
