UVA hosts open houses twice each fall for our families across Louisiana. These events allow our students to meet and interact with their teachers, classmates, and administrators in person. During the event, we distribute UVA t-shirts, host a Scholastic book fair, conduct hearing and vision screenings, and issue student IDs. Schools, grades, and subject areas create fun and engaging tables and displays to connect with students and their families. Despite heavy rain the first week and Hurricane Francine the second week, we were excited to see so many new and returning families. It's going to be a great year "changing the game!"

UVA is proud to announce our new partnership with @EnterpriseAquatics. They recently installed a STEM Sprout Hydroponic system at UVA's Lynx Den STEAM Center. This project will give UVA high school students the opportunity to explore hydroponics and aquaponics through the new Aquaponics Design and Plant Science class taught by Raven Cole as well as the Green Lynx Alliance club. The Aquaponics Design course is being piloted through the LSU STEM Pathways program and will launch spring 2025. UVA is the first and only school piloting this course which will help create a new course for the Environmental Protection and Sustainability pathway. Students enrolled in the class will have a chance to earn the BASF Plant Science certification.

It’s game time at University View Academy (UVA)! UVA staff and educators kicked off the 2024-25 school year at the annual staff convocation earlier this week. The theme for the school year is “Changing the Game: Imagine. Innovate. Inspire.” The “Changing the Game” theme will offer opportunities this school year for imagining new possibilities, innovating education, and inspiring students to succeed. Let's geaux Lynx!

Hot off the press! University View Academy was selected to participate in a documentary feature with "Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid." We spent the school year curating ideas, interviews, and footage to support our feature titled "Advancing Student Education Through Virtual & Online Learning Solutions.” The feature launched this week as interstitial programming on over 170 participating public television stations throughout the U.S. During the next year, the feature will air and bring national awareness to the innovative learning opportunities provided at UVA. Thank you to everyone who helped make the project a success! With the leadership of our partners at Instructional Data Solutions LLC, UVA team members navigated the Value Stream Mapping (VSM) process last week. VSM is a #lean tool that maps out the current state of a process, envisions the ideal process in a future state, and then derives an action plan to get there. Team members spent two days applying this process to our enrollment plan. It was a great opportunity to focus on #continuousimprovement! Check out all the post-it notes!
