Our Economic Symposium at The Dalles Civic Auditorium brought out the Gorge's business community to hear Washington State's USDA Rural Development Director Helen Price Johnson speak about the agency's accomplishments, programs, and resources. This was followed up by a Main Street small business owners panel and an Agricultural business owners panel who spoke about the challenges that their businesses face to remain viable in our changing climate and economy. We would like to thank our event sponsors: The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce, Business Oregon, Umpqua Bank, NW Natural, and Columbia River Insurance. And a big thanks to The Dalles Civic Auditorium for the event space and Cherry City Catering for the delicious breakfast and snacks!

Our 2024 Tech Showcase was a huge, sold-out success! It was especially great to see our new members and sponsors mingle with our longstanding members, as the GTA approaches our 20th year! Over thirty individuals took the stage to introduce themselves to the Gorge Tech Community during the one-minute pitch opportunity. A big thank you to the Mid-Columbia Innovation Hub for co-hosting, to our wonderful GTA sponsors, to The Ruins in Hood River for hosting, and Lake Taco for the amazing food!

Yesterday we encouraged #Employers to consider #SecondChanceHiring as a valuable #TalentPipeline. Today we feature Opportunity Oregon, one of our #partners making great strides in assisting this talent with finding the right opportunities. Visit their LinkedIn page, give them a follow and check out the prosperous partnerships they are building. We would be remiss to not mention the Co-founder and Executive Director Nancy Pance who has been the driving force in fostering partnerships across Oregon. Thank you Nancy for your partnership and the great work you are doing for this special population. If you are interested in learning more about second chance hiring or connecting with some of this great talent, reach out to #WorkSourceOregon, Nancy or Opportunity Oregon directly. #WorkforceDevelopment #BusinessServices https://lnkd.in/gM5T6c_r
🚀 Exciting progress at Opportunity Oregon! Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve helped several individuals from Lane County to Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington County secure employment. (Yes..we cover statewide!) The careers of those we’ve worked with these last couple weeks span diverse fields, including construction, journeyman carpentry, production, hairdressing, tire technology, and automotive technology. Pictured here is Caleb, who was released at the end of September. Thanks to the generous support from Pelican Garage Doors, we were able to provide Caleb with a bike, helping him get to his new job here in Lane County! 🚴♂️ To all employers out there: We support industries statewide and can connect you with skilled, qualified workers. Let’s fill those open positions with dedicated individuals ready to contribute to your team. If you're interested in learning more, visit us at www.opport-unity.org Together, we can make a difference! 💼 #Hiring #ReentrySuccess #SecondChances #OpportunityOregon #WorkforceDevelopment #Employers #SkilledLabor #SupportLocal #OregonJobs

Heart of Oregon Corps is thrilled to welcome five new members to our Board of Directors! This week, we’re spotlighting our second new board member: Grant Jeffrey. Grant shared that joining Heart of Oregon as a board member is both a profound honor and a deeply personal mission of his. His journey— from a high school history teacher to his current role at NeighborImpact— has been guided by his commitment to empathy and public service. Through Heart of Oregon, Grant has seen the remarkable impact of community support and youth empowerment in action. Serving on the board allows him to advance a cause that aligns closely with his values, helping to create transformative opportunities for young people. For Grant, being part of an organization that makes such a tangible difference in our community is a true privilege. We are delighted to have Grant on our team— join us in giving him a warm welcome!
