We love celebrating birthdays - because, well, what's better than cake? One thing we know for sure... great leadership is like a good birthday party: 1. You need a strong vision (just like you need a solid party theme—like these Hawaiian shirts with his head on them). 2. A great team makes all the difference (because you can’t play on a bowling team by yourself). 3. And, of course, you have to know how to handle surprises (whether it’s an unexpected make-up surprise party or that one employee who insists on bringing a confetti cannon to the office). So, here’s to Rob, our President of Senior Living—for leading with integrity, keeping our workplace culture amazing, and maybe even eating an extra slice of cake today. Cheers to another year of more movie quotes!

Recently, we spent time with our corporate leadership teams and made it about collaboration and how to tackle challenges head-on. Traveling to meet with our peers in-person to bounce ideas from each other is so valuable. When we step out of our daily routines and into a room with diverse perspectives, something powerful can happen: we challenge each other to think differently. We promise we did more than fight over chairs in musical chairs or eat fruit-by-the-foot with no hands.🤷♀️ Like we heard from Emily Holth on conflict resolution, & we strategized consistent processes and protocols company wide, & ways to proactively work together, & the importance of quality improvement, & better education, recruitment practices, providing the best care, elevating our communities to the highest standards...and we could go on and on! Maybe, we didn't have all the answers. But when we come together, we have fun, and we create solutions that truly makes an impact!

Happy National Pi Day! 🍕 Today, we're celebrating more than just numbers—we're celebrating pie in all its forms! Who better to honor than Ray, an Edgewood resident in Virginia, MN, who spent nearly 50 years perfecting the art of pizza at his family’s beloved restaurant, Dave’s Pizza? From crispy crusts to mouthwatering toppings, Ray’s passion for great food made Dave’s a local favorite for generations. Join us as we share his incredible story—because some pies are just too good to forget! 🍕

“There were many places between where my parents are from and East Grand Forks, but I felt confident my dad was in the best place at Edgewood in East Grand Forks..” As the Executive Director at Edgewood in East Grand Forks, Luke knew he wanted the best place for his dad. His father, Thomas, started showing signs of dementia over 20 years ago. For many years, his mother was able to manage, but it became clear that more support was needed. Knowing his father deserved the very best care, Luke made the heartfelt decision to bring him over 7 hours back home to live right under his care. Thomas, a retired teacher and football coach, has settled in well—enjoying scheduled meals, forming friendships, and feeling secure and supported by the staff. Most importantly, he’s now close to Luke, who gets to play Executive Director during they day, and back to son when visiting, knowing he's surrounded by a community that truly cares. This is what family looks like. Edgewood is where family takes care of family. We are Edgewood.

Ever wonder what life is really like in assisted living? A short-term stay is a great way to experience it firsthand—without a long-term commitment. From deliciously prepared meals to friendly neighbors, exciting activities and excursions, and zero housework (yep, you read that right!), there’s a lot to love about assisted living. But don’t just take our word for it!🏠❤️

What is it about the good old days that gives us that peaceful, easy feeling? 🎵❤️ A song, a scent, or a special keepsake can help create a sense of familiarity that brings comfort. By surrounding memory care residents with familiar sights, sounds, and activities, we help them feel safe, connected, and a sense of joy.

“He treats me like a queen, and I treat him like a king. We also hold hands ALL the time.” And Jim added, “That’s right, and I tell her I love her at least once a day.” Meet Jim and Joan Lyon—two hearts that found each other on February 1, 1960, at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, TX. From the moment Joan arrived, Jim knew she was the one. By the next day, they were courting, and on October 21, 1960, they said "I do" in a small Texas ceremony. Now, 64 years later, their love story continues at Edgewood Spearfish where they’ve made their home for over a year. Blessed with 3 children, 11 grandchildren, and 16.5 great-grandchildren, Jim and Joan are a true testament to love. On nice days, you might spot them cruising in Joan’s little red convertible, hand in hand, just as they’ve always been. Edgewood is family, built on the love, stories, and legacies of incredible people like Jim and Joan. We are Edgewood.

Growth comes from how we evolve as professionals to better serve our communities! One of the best ways to foster that growth is through professional development workshops, where our teams can gain new skills, share experiences, and strengthen the support they provide to residents... we are so proud of our very own, Michele from our Aspen Wind in Cheyenne community, to be able to do just that! Recently, she was able to attend the Alzheimer's Association Community Leaders Summit to learn ways to raise the bar in fostering relationships, quality care, and fundraising efforts in support of Alzheimer's and dementia. The presentations and networking opportunities she was able to take advantage of, was like no other!
