Director, Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response, U.S. Department of Energy
As we continue to see the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) remains committed to supporting the impacted communities and the efforts of our industry partners who are working tirelessly to restore and rebuild energy infrastructure. It is amazing to see 50,000 electricity workers from 36 states, D.C., and Canada being committed to support the response efforts - this is the largest mobilization of industry resources for any storm to-date! CESER’s Response and Restoration Division led by Ken Buell is fully activated and we’ve deployed personnel to FEMA’s National Response Coordination Center, FEMA Regional Offices, and State Emergency Operations Centers. We’re posting daily situation reports for anyone who would like to stay up-to-date on energy sector response efforts: https://lnkd.in/gPEvymRq #ESF12 #HurricaneHelene

✨ Honored to have moderated an insightful panel discussion at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) National Key Accounts workshop at Denver today, where we explored the next-generation technologies driving the energy transition! A huge thank you to our incredible panelists: Jennifer Cannon, Director of Business Customer Engagement, Arizona Public Service Robin Lanier, Director of New Ventures, Southern Company Kate Staples, Director of Distribution Asset Management, Dominion Energy We discussed some fascinating topics, from how emerging technologies are helping to decarbonize the grid, to the rising demand for power driven by electrification, mobility, and data centers, to the critical challenges around grid resilience and cybersecurity. It was inspiring to hear about the innovative solutions being developed within their organizations and the role of collaboration across industries to make these breakthroughs a reality. Key takeaway: The energy transition is not just about new technology—it’s about partnerships, adaptability, and leveraging innovation to build a cleaner, smarter, and more reliable grid for the future.
