Last week, Edmentum's Policy & Advocacy Director, Hadley Blangy, attended a congressional hearing on AI in education alongside leaders from the U.S. Department of Education and our partners, EDSAFE AI Alliance. The discussion focused on the exciting potential for AI to enhance student learning—from automating differentiated instruction to adapting lessons for diverse needs. We're committed to continuing this conversation to help build knowledge around the benefits of AI in the classroom.🌟

It's been a busy day in DC, and I'm finally taking off my heels. I was excited to join Pat Yongpradit to ensure that more AI conversations in Congress are focused on education. Today, the EDSAFE AI Alliance and TeachAI hosted the AI in Education congressional briefing. It was a great event focused on building knowledge, not fear of this tech, understanding what is already happening in the field - including growing divides in knowledge and use AND not just talking about the need to build AI skills and literacy but some great how-tos from the speakers. What a pleasure to be joined by Representative Haley Stevens (MI-11), who emphasized the need to prioritize skills and workforce readiness, including AI's upskilling potential. It's clear that to remain globally competitive, we must make investments in all American talent, including those who may be demographically or geographically farthest from opportunities to build these core literacies and skills. (I'll always have a soft spot for Oakland County from my Michigan days) Joining Rep. Stevens was a rockstar group of leaders Denise Forte of @EdTrust Kirsten Baesler of the NORTH DAKOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION, Raymond Hart of the Council of the Great City Schools, Rylin Rodgers of Microsoft, and Roberto Rodriguez of the U.S. Department of Education. So grateful to the EDSAFE AI Alliance Industry Council (demonstrating industry can and needs to be at the table) and representatives from our Steering Committee organizations - National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD), ISTE, National Education Association, AI for Education, Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), Alliance for Learning Innovation (ALI), and so many more. What a team effort! Thanks Karl Rectanus, Dr. Jordan Mroziak, Laura McHugh, Nathan Grant, Maggie Osorio Glennon, and Della Cronin plus MVP Sara Kloek (led 30 people down the street and through security).
