To close out #HeartMonth, we brought a group of patients and engineers together to explore how these lived experiences can shape the future of #StructuralHeart innovation. ❤️ This panel discussion reinforced that diversity in clinical research is about challenging assumptions, designing with inclusivity in mind, and ensuring that every patient has access to the best possible care. We celebrated Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day by teaming up with the Los Angeles Rams for a day of free #HeartHealth education and screenings in the Inglewood community. Through Edwards’ Off the Sidelines partnership with the Los Angeles Rams, we’re continuing to educate the community on why early screening is the best way to identify heart valve disease. #HeartMonth is a time to honor the innovations that have transformed cardiovascular care. When hydraulic engineer Miles “Lowell” Edwards first met with heart surgeon Dr. Albert Starr, they saw an opportunity to change the future of heart health. At the time, repairing heart valves was a major challenge, and there was no solution for replacing diseased valves. They had a bold idea, and their collaboration led to the world’s first successful artificial heart valve, which helped shape the future of #StructuralHeart care.
