Singapore leads the GenAI startup charts, but Vietnam the one to watch at #2, attracting regional teams to build their MVPs, like Eklipse.gg are building impressive solutions in Vietnam, gaining popularity globally. Indonesia at #3, with only 8%, lags due to a focus on B2C models catering to its large population. However, a number of bright sparks are appearing from Indonesia such as Meeting.ai, a leading B2B GenAI-powered transcription and summarisation software.

The rise of B2B GenAI startups has shifted the focus from B2C models, with over 90% of GenAI startups now B2B-oriented. However, these startups face challenges such as slow SaaS onboarding processes in ASEAN, difficulty gaining traction in global markets, and limited funding. Some big tech companies like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure are supporting these startups through various programs. Despite challenges, some startups like bluesheets, are thriving by automating enterprise data across platforms.

Most startups use OpenAI alongside other models like Llama, Hugging Face, and more. They leverage these for fine-tuning and cost optimization. Big Tech companies are responding with targeted programs to support these startups, such as AWS GenAI Spotlight, Generative AI Accelerate Programme by NUS Enterprise, and Google AI Accelerator Program.
