We were excited and honored to host EL Education's 2024 Fall Regional Leadership Cohort Training at One City Schools this week. We are grateful for our growing partnership with EL and all that do to support our young Scholars, educators, and schools. A very special thank you to EL Education's Michael Ryan Maxwell, Cheryl Twyman and Penny Weikel Rossetto for choosing our schools as the site for their learning and collaboration this year!

My brain and heart are full after spending three full learning days with EL Education at the Atlantic Regional Conference. We spent the entire time (what a gift) grappling around student work - specifically high quality work and creating a vision for learning excellence for our students. One quote I am returning to over and over right now is: “The key to excellence is this: it is first born from a culture. When children enter a family culture, a community culture, or a school culture that demands excellence, they work to fit into the culture. A culture of excellence transcends race, class and geography; it doesn’t matter what color, income or background the children come from. Once those children enter a culture with a powerful ethic, that ethic becomes their norm. Is what they know.” I commit to leading in ways where excellence is the norm, creating and upholding cultures in which ALL - students and staff - rise to the bar and beyond because it is what we know.
