🌍✨ We’re excited to share highlights from the 2024 Elevate Children Funders Group AGM, held this past June in Nairobi, Kenya! This gathering was a pivotal moment for ECFG, with funders, young leaders, and community changemakers coming together to explore the powerful synchronicities that drive our collective impact for children. We truly are "better together"! We invite you to dive into our AGM microsite, where you’ll find detailed summaries, insightful videos, and valuable resources that capture the essence of our gathering. Throughout our time together, we engaged in meaningful discussions that centered around youth empowerment and the urgent need to shift the landscape of philanthropy. With inspiring contributions from the Youth for Impactful Philanthropy (YIP) Fellows and collaborative sessions with the Global Early Childhood Funders (GECF), we fostered connections that will carry our mission forward. Whether you were with us in Nairobi or in spirit, let’s continue the dialogue and take collective action toward a more just and equitable future for all children. 👉 Explore the highlights here: https://lnkd.in/g3WgWqBp

About us
Elevate Children Funders Group is a global consortium of philanthropic organizations committed to advancing philanthropy in support of youth facing adversity. Our mission is to elevate the importance of investing in children and youth as a primary means of achieving sustainable human, social and economic development, all of which are critical to furthering global human rights, peace and security. As a platform for raising the philanthropic field through shared best practices, elevated grantcraft and pooled efforts, ECFG works on the premise that it is “better together” and that the sum of the parts can drive greater sustainable change than the work of individual foundations in any given field. Please note: All insights, views, and resources shared are done so in an effort to offer diverse perspectives and information to ECFG members and partners. Posts do not necessarily represent the views of any member organization.

🌍✨ Highlighting the partnership between The Global Resilience Fund and INUA KIKE, a group led by young feminists in Kenya, as they respond to community crises with innovation and compassion. 💪 INUA KIKE is providing emergency relief to families impacted by recent floods, government-mandated demolitions, and mass civil protests met with deadly repression. Their approach is holistic, addressing not just immediate needs but long-term support through psychosocial care and economic empowerment for women and girls. These young leaders are showing what's possible when communities are empowered to create their own solutions! 🙌 Read more: https://lnkd.in/e2UFwDmn #YouthLeadership #FeministFund #CommunityLedChange #ECFG #ShiftingPower #Philanthropy
Young feminists responding to their community's crises bring a much-needed holistic approach ✨ INUA KIKE, a group led by young feminists in Kenya, shared their transformative approach to providing emergency relief to families affected by recent floods, government-mandated demolition of homes, and mass civil protests followed by deadly repression: "Recognizing the growing needs in our community, we allocated part of the grant to address the aftermath of the nationwide floods and the demolition of structures along the Nairobi River, following a government directive. So far, we've been able to reach 160 families in urban informal settlements like Mathare, Baba Dogo, and Korogocho, providing much-needed relief. Additionally, we've expanded our support for women and girls running small businesses during these harsh economic times. Through our ongoing interactions, we continue to identify those in critical need of psychosocial support. We have been implementing one-week psychological support sessions, with follow-up monitoring to ensure progress. These sessions have been vital in providing healing and emotional relief for those deeply affected. Moreover, we continue to enroll adolescents from these families in our Girls Rising Nairobi Project. A project that creates safe spaces to empower girls and ensures they receive the support necessary to thrive. Our work continues, and we remain committed to uplifting vulnerable communities across Nairobi and beyond." Join us in supporting and amplifying the transformative crisis response efforts led by girls and young feminists 📢 https://lnkd.in/e2UFwDmn

🌟 At ECFG, we believe our work is most effective and impactful when it centers the perspectives of those we aim to serve. To elevate child and youth issues within philanthropy, we must also elevate the voices of young people themselves. Over the past year, the ECFG Secretariat has been exploring ways to actively integrate youth perspectives into our initiatives and provide our members with opportunities to do the same. With that, we’re thrilled to introduce the five incredible new members of the ECFG ecosystem: Kamori O., Daira Velasquez Fonseca, Evie Prokesh, Brian King, and Tasimba Andrew—our inaugural Youth for Impactful Philanthropy (YIP) Fellows! 🎉 The YIP Fellowship is designed for passionate young leaders and activists eager to drive change in philanthropy. We recognize the challenges many funders face in engaging youth in decision-making, and our hope is that this program will bridge that gap, creating pathways for increased youth representation and fostering intergenerational collaboration. With over 300 applications from youth leaders worldwide, the response underscores the need for this program. Since May, these remarkable fellows have been co-designing the fellowship and sharing their insights with the ECFG Secretariat. Over the next six months, they will integrate into our network, sharing their expertise with ECFG members and amplifying youth voices in the philanthropic community. The YIP fellows are co-leading our Child and Youth Participation Working Group and collaborating with ECFG members on various projects aligned with their interests. Interested in learning more?
