In honor of American Heart Month, we’re thrilled to introduce Dr. Jessica Sutherland, our newest interventional cardiologist at Elliot Heart and Vascular Center, who joined our team in December 2024. Dr. Sutherland brings expertise in general cardiology as well as specialized training in interventional procedures to diagnose and treat acute heart attacks and coronary artery disease. Her advanced skills help improve and save lives, delivering critical care to our patients and community. When it comes to patient care, Dr. Sutherland’s philosophy is simple yet powerful, “My goal is to provide high-quality care with compassion. I try to treat my patients and their families like I would my own.” Dr. Sutherland was drawn to Elliot Health System for the opportunity to work with highly regarded physicians and clinical staff. Though she grew up outside of Chicago and still loves her hometown, she’s come to love New Hampshire for its welcoming community and the incredible blend of ocean and mountains right in our backyard. When she’s not in the cath lab or seeing patients, Dr. Sutherland enjoys a wide variety of hobbies, including gardening, birdwatching, traveling, and skiing (a skill she picked up in recent years). A passionate animal advocate, she and her husband have five rescue dogs and foster when they can. Please join us in giving Dr. Sutherland a warm welcome to the Elliot Health System family! We’re so lucky to have her here in the Granite State.

On Thursday, Dr. Greg Baxter, president and CEO of Elliot Health System, joined other business leaders and experts in a variety of industry sectors during a breakfast event with Business NH Magazine to provide their forecasts on where New Hampshire is headed in the coming year. Laura DesRosiers has been a valued team member in our breast health department for the past four years, serving as department assistant. In her role, Laura goes above and beyond to ensure that patients feel supported and cared for during what can often be a stressful time. From welcoming patients and helping them prepare for their imaging to easing their fears about mammograms, Laura’s warmth and compassion make a meaningful impact. She also handles essential tasks such as scheduling exams and biopsies, importing outside imaging, and assisting with record systems, ensuring smooth operations for patients and colleagues. As one of her coworkers explains, “Laura goes above and beyond for patients and our department.” Having worked at another health system, Laura was drawn to The Elliot by its outstanding reputation and a friend's recommendation. She has stayed because she has found that “The Elliot truly cares about their patients and employees.” She adds about her coworkers, “I am truly lucky to work with a wonderful group of individuals.” Outside of work, Laura enjoys warm-weather adventures like camping and spending time with her family, friends, and pets—including her three ducks. We’re grateful to have Laura on our team. She makes a difference every day with her kindness, expertise, and dedication to the Elliot mission!

Dr. Paul Hoff Honored with the 2024 William S. Green Award Elliot Health System proudly announces Dr. Paul Hoff as the 2024 William S. Green Award for Excellence recipient. Established in 2000, this prestigious award from The Elliot honors individuals who exemplify selfless service, unwavering dedication, and a lasting impact on our health system and the patients we serve. Dr. Hoff, a former Elliot Health System Board of Trustees member, is celebrated for his scientific expertise, thoughtful leadership, and steadfast commitment to excellence. His guidance has shaped critical aspects of The Elliot’s care and strategy, leaving an indelible mark on the health system. “The Elliot and its team of skilled, compassionate providers and staff make an immeasurable impact on countless lives in our community. I am grateful to have been a part of the Elliot Board and offer my guidance. It has been my honor to be a part of the history of this incredible health system,” said Dr. Hoff. Dr. Brian Knab, radiation oncologist at the Solinsky Center for Cancer Care at The Elliot, has been a dedicated member of Elliot Health System since 2007. Reflecting on his 18 years at the Elliot, he shares, "I started practicing here after completing my training in radiation oncology and have been here ever since. We have fantastic providers, nurses, therapists, and support services, and I enjoy being a part of this team and contributing to our shared mission." Dr. Knab takes great pride in the mission of the Solinsky Center for Cancer Care. "We provide comprehensive cancer care with the utmost compassion for our patients and their families," he explains. His work emphasizes a collaborative approach. "Working with our colleagues across all specialties, we ensure that patients receive cutting-edge cancer care right here in our community, close to home. By taking a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care, we strive for seamless delivery of care, helping to guide patients through every aspect of their journey." What keeps him at the Elliot after nearly two decades? "The strong and enduring relationships that I have with my patients and colleagues," he says. "During the course of treatment, we become very close with patients and their loved ones. It is an honor to play a role in this journey, and I would not trade these relationships for anything. Within the radiation oncology department, we work together as a family to deliver compassionate care. I look forward to coming into the clinic every day and working together with patients and our team." Outside of work, Dr. Knab enjoys embracing the outdoors. "Since I spend my entire workday indoors, I love the outdoors when I am not in the clinic—whether it is hiking or skiing in the mountains, exercising outdoors with family and friends, or gardening," he shares. A proud father to two daughters, ages 16 and 18, he adds, "I love being a part of their lives and supporting them in their education and activities." Dr. Knab’s expertise, compassion, and dedication make him a cornerstone of the Solinsky Center for Cancer Care and a valued member of the Elliot Health System.
