Congratulations, Drs. Arindam Bhattacharjee and Richard Parad, Division of Newborn Medicine within the Mass General Brigham Department of Pediatrics!
RESEARCH NEWS🔬🎉 We are thrilled to announce the funding of two groundbreaking research projects focusing on early detection and innovative treatments for children predisposed to cancer. The first grant will study the implementation and promise of a genetic test using newborn blood samples, obtained with a heel-stick at birth, to screen for several cancer predisposition syndromes. The second project will study the potential for a cancer vaccine that could provide an early-stage intervention in kids with certain cancer predisposition syndromes. These grants are funded by ALSF’s Crazy 8 Initiative, an ambitious grant category that funds collaborative teams that are tackling the most challenging problems in childhood cancer. Launched in 2020, the Crazy 8 has invested $35 million in 8 collaborative projects. These two new projects will each receive $5 million over 4 years to complete their studies. Press release in the comments! Baylor College of Medicine The Hospital for Sick Children

Thanks to Bloomberg Philanthropies for bringing together fellow healthcare and education partners from across the country this week to help shape the future of healthcare-focused high schools. The program gives students hands-on experience and training in the healthcare industry and prepares them for high-demand jobs with family-sustaining wages upon graduating high school. We're tremendously excited for the impact this initiative will have on thousands of students and the future healthcare workforce. Together with the Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers, we are excited about the future of healthcare. Photos courtesy of Bloomberg Philanthropies.

Move-ins are underway at 3368 Washington Street in Jamaica Plain! When fully occupied, this new residence will provide permanent supportive housing for 140 of our most vulnerable neighbors. Mass General Brigham is proud to support this transformative project through the Boston’s Way Home Fund. Our $1M commitment, made in partnership with Pine Street Inn and The Community Builders, Inc., reflects our dedication to addressing homelessness and expanding access to stable housing. We are honored to be part of this milestone and grateful for the opportunity to help build a healthier, more equitable community.
