Steve Ulmer Receives the National Fire Sprinkler Association's Highest Award. Recently, at the May 2024 NFSA Annual Seminar and Business & Leadership Conference in Maui, Hawaii, Steve Ulmer, former President of Davis-Ulmer Fire Protection and current acting Senior Vice President of APi Group, was awarded NFSA's highest honor, The Golden Sprinkler Award. This achievement, presented annually to one individual dedicated to advancing the fire sprinkler industry, highlights Steve Ulmer's deep commitment to leadership and excellence and reflects his career in the fire industry. Founded by Steve Ulmer's grandfather, Herman Ulmer, and later led by his father, Robert Ulmer, Davis-Ulmer Fire Protection has remained a family-owned company for three generations. In 1972, Steve Ulmer began his career as an apprentice before becoming a fitter by age 21, spending eight years in the field. In 1981, Steve moved from the field to the office, becoming Vice President of Sales and Executive Vice President in 1983. Eventually, he succeeded his father as President of the company in 1987. Under Steve's guidance, Davis-Ulmer expanded again to open the Rochester branch in 1988 and another office in the Corning area in 1990. Steve Ulmer's influence extends beyond Davis-Ulmer. As the current Senior Vice President of APi Group, he continues to lead with the same passion and dedication that earned him the Golden Sprinkler Award. His leadership has been instrumental in driving the growth and innovation of the Davis-Ulmer Family of Companies and APi Group, inspiring others in the industry to strive for excellence. Today, Steve is still very much connected to the Davis-Ulmer Buffalo office—it holds a special place in his heart. Steve's nephew Jake, a 669 Sprinkler Fitter in the Buffalo branch, marks the fourth generation in the Davis-Ulmer Family. Steve resides in the Western New York area with his beautiful wife Betsy of 35 years, his daughter Kerry and son Nick, and their five beautiful grandchildren. As we reflect on Steve Ulmer's remarkable journey and the success of the recent conference, we are filled with deep gratitude for his significant contributions to the fire safety industry. His dedication, collaboration, and innovation have propelled the industry forward, and we are inspired to continue in his footsteps. Let us strive to emulate his dedication, continuing to collaborate and innovate, and together, propel the industry forward. Congratulations, Steve! #goldensprinkleraward #lifetimeachievement #firesafety
