"𝑰 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝑭𝑷𝒔 𝑰 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒆." This is a common refrain from SLED industry veterans. And while there's some hyperbole in that statement, there's also a whole lot of truth. I have never written a full RFP on behalf of a client, but I have helped prospective clients develop their RFP on many occasions. This happens most often during a discovery call. When a local government or school district realizes they may need to put out an RFP, one of the first things they do is contact vendors. WHY? Because the staff writing the RFP are not experts on the solution, they need vendors' guidance on technical specifications and requirements, implementation timeline, staff dependencies, maintenance schedules, cost, etc. As a business selling to the government, you should strive to be one of the vendors prospective clients call. How do you do that? By putting yourself out there as an educational resource about the issues and initiatives your solution addresses. Write blogs, host webinars, present at conferences, post on social media, record informational videos. Showcase your expertise, and governments will come to you to inform their RFPs. And guess what... Your likelihood of winning RFPs you helped write is much, much higher than it is for RFPs you found searching BidNet or any other RFP listing service. #SLED #Publicsector #govtech #govcon #governmentcontracting

When I started Elucid8, I aimed to help more tech companies sell into #SLED. For years, I've seen the SLED market suffer because so few tech companies understand how to sell to local governments effectively. This has reduced competition in the market and slowed innovation in public services. SLED is an enormous market with characteristics tech companies should be drooling over (recession-resistant, loyal customers, minuscule default rate). But that's not the reality. The SLED market doesn't receive the attention it deserves from the tech industry. And I think I know why... Selling to SLED is different from selling to the private sector. It requires a different approach to be successful. Most tech companies begin by selling to private sector companies, so their go-to-market strategy is designed to sell to the private sector. And when they try selling to SLED, their GTM isn't nearly as effective. This is where Elucid8 comes in. Selling to SLED requires a different strategy than selling to retail, manufacturing, finance, or any other private industry. It's not harder; it's just different. We just launched a new online course that teaches you how to sell to SLED. It's designed for anyone who wants to increase their SLED revenue (#sales #marketing #founders). We preach proactive go-to-market so you can stop chasing RFPs and start creating and closing SLED opportunities. You can sign up on our website or send me a note if you'd like to learn more, and we'll get something on the schedule.

🤔𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗣̶𝗿̶𝗼̶𝗽̶𝗼̶𝘀̶𝗮̶𝗹̶ 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆🤪🥸 The rigid requirements of RFPs lead to lots of proposals that look pretty damn similar.😐😐😐 Keep in mind that proposals are judged by… 𝘏𝘜𝘔𝘈𝘕𝘚 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘙𝘖𝘉𝘖𝘛𝘚. Make your proposal stand out by showing that you are human, too! Add some humor, creativity, anything that conveys to the client - “𝗛𝗲𝘆, 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀” Of course, you still need to follow the proposal requirements, and you don’t want to drop a joke into your technical specifications. The letter of intent is typically the best place to lighten the mood. But firm introductions and staff profiles often work, too. 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻! #GTM #SLED #RFP

🚀 Why I started Elucid8🚀 Elucid8’s mission is to bring the best technology into the state, local, and education (SLED) market. ❓Why? Because, unfortunately, the tech used in many local governments today lags behind what’s available in the private sector. Now, consider the services local governments provide: roads, drinking water, electricity, education, and so much more. The quality of tech our local governments have at their disposal has a major impact on the quality of life in our communities. 🚰🛣️🏫 There are many reasons why the tech in local govs isn’t on par with private industry. And, we won’t claim that we can solve the problem single-handedly. But we can help. 🔑One key issue Elucid8 addresses is the misalignment between how tech companies go to market and how local governments buy technology. The #go-to-market strategy most tech companies use is designed for private sector buyers. And GTM designed for the private sector will never be as effective for selling to SLED clients. The result is lower returns on GTM investment in SLED, and fewer technologies marketed and sold to public sector buyers, which ultimately leads to: 🙁 Less market competition ☹️Less innovation 😫Lower-quality tech used by local governments So what can we do??? 🎯Elucid8 is laser-focused on helping innovative tech companies design and implement go-to-market strategies tailored explicitly for selling into the SLED market. Our team has been implementing SLED GTM campaigns since the iphone 5. Elucid8 is our way of scaling our experience to bring the best technology to SLED. 💥We have so much planned for the months ahead. Stay tuned!!! #GTM #go-to-market #innovation #SLED #B2G #publicsector

🚨 New to the SLED (State, Local, and Education) market? Here's why chasing RFPs may not be the best use of your time. 🚨 When you’re just starting out, responding to RFPs can be a grind – it might take up to 40 hours (or more) to complete! But here’s the thing: you don’t want to be spending that kind of time unless you have a solid chance of winning. So, when’s the right time to dive into RFPs? 🤔 🔑 When the RFPs start coming to YOU. Before an RFP ever goes public, government buyers often reach out to vendors they’ve found through Google, LinkedIn, or other channels to gather insights and shape the requirements. That’s your golden moment! Focus on building brand awareness so cities, counties, and school districts know you’re the expert. Once they start contacting you for advice on upcoming RFPs, that’s your green light to start responding – because your odds of winning just skyrocketed. 🚀 Remember: responding to RFPs is a massive investment. Make sure you’re only pursuing the ones where you have a strong chance of success. The real win comes when the opportunities start finding you. #stateofgovtech #SLED #GovSales #RFPstrategy #SalesTips #PublicSectorSales #GovTech
