  • DENMARK SUPPORTS UKRAINE’S DEFENSE INDUSTRY WITH A DKK 1 BILLION (€130 MILLION) STATE GUARANTEE 🛡️⚔️ 🔥 The Danish government, through the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO), is introducing a DKK 1 billion (€130 million) state guarantee to encourage Danish companies to invest in Ukraine’s defense sector. This initiative aims to address the risks associated with investing in a country at war while strengthening cooperation between Danish and Ukrainian industries. 🎙️ Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating: “This initiative sends a strong signal, enabling Danish companies to invest with confidence while benefiting from Ukraine’s battle-tested innovations.” 💡 How does the guarantee work? 💠 Covers up to 70% of Danish companies' equity investments in Ukrainian defense companies. 💠Runs for up to 7 years, with an option for Danish companies to sell shares to EIFO at a pre-agreed price. 💠Includes an ongoing premium, exit fee, and performance-based fee structure. 🛡️ Denmark has been at the forefront of military assistance to Ukraine, and this new initiative builds on previous efforts, including military donations and financing defense equipment from Ukrainian manufacturers. • ⚡ DENMARK SUPPORTS ENERGY EFFICIENCY FOR SECURITY AND RECOVERY 💡Last week Ambassador Ole Egberg Mikkelsen held a welcome speech at the Forum “Energy Efficiency: The Path to Energy Security and Recovery” organised by the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine. More than 300 participants from all over Ukraine joined the Forum, including high-level government officials, representatives of international organisations, businesses, and civil society. 🎙️The Ambassador praised the brave energy workers for their dedication to keep the lights on and the heating in our homes over the winter period despite the relentless Russian attacks. To support these efforts, Denmark has contributed 665 million DKK [88 million EUR] to reacquire destroyed energy equipment, purchases of gas pistons and biomass boilers for backup heating and many other important things. Denmark will remain a strong ally in this regard. ⚡Whilst reconstructing the Ukrainian energy system is pivotal task, the Ambassador also highlighted the importance of energy efficiency. Denmark is a leader in this field with companies like the Carlsberg Brewery in Ukraine demonstrating the importance of immediate energy-saving measures. These efforts provide practical solutions that can be quickly implemented, reducing energy consumption during potential shortages – both good for the company’s bottom line and bolstering Ukraine’s energy security. 🔌Senior Advisor Pernille Hagedorn-Rasmussen from Danish Energy Agency also participated in the Forum in a panel discussion on prospects for energy efficiency in communities and business. Danish experts, like Pernille, has supported SAEE design a mechanism for voluntary energy efficiency agreements. These provide a pipeline of bankable energy savings projects, which are eligible for financial support through the Decarbonization Fund of Ukraine. 🤝 Huge thanks to Anna Zamazeeva and her team for organising the Forum.
