Transforming the end of life into a human-centered experience.

About us

Since 2017, End Well has been working to create a cultural shift to make the end of life experience more human-centered for everyone. We convene a wide range of expertise – physicians, designers, educators, technologists, policymakers, patients, caregivers and many others – to help transform the way the world thinks about the end of life experience and to create a future where ending well becomes a measure of living well. We partner with organizations, brands and individuals who believe, as we do, that living well means ending well. We convene events, including an annual symposium, that are driving the cultural shift around the end of life experience. And we share innovative ideas to inspire new thinking about the end of life experience.

“Physicians who care for younger cancer patients are shying away from hard but necessary conversations.” In an article for The Atlantic, Dr. Sunita Puri explores the differences between treating older and younger cancer patients. The most glaring issue is the lack of honest conversations about accurate prognoses and the reality of how much longer a patient realistically has, which often leads to an aggressive treatment plan at the expense of a younger patient’s quality of life. All patients, regardless of age, deserve to know the truth about their prognosis and have an active voice in their cancer care. Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/g6uRe9px

We’re honored to announce that Myra Sack and Dr. Matthew Goldstein will be speaking at End Well 2024! Myra and Matt’s lives completely changed when their daughter, Havi, was diagnosed with Tay-Sachs disease, a fatal neurodegenerative disease, just after her first birthday. To help themselves cope, they decided to transform Friday night Shabbat dinners into birthday parties (Shabbirthdays) to celebrate all the birthdays their daughter Havi would never have—which they documented in their best-selling book “Fifty-Seven Fridays: Losing Our Daughter, Finding Our Way.” After going through such an overwhelming, emotional journey, they both have made it their life’s work to help other families. Myra founded E-Motion, Inc., a nonprofit organization that supports community, movement, and ritual to enhance coping and resilience. And Matthew is the CEO of JScreen, a national nonprofit genetic and cancer testing and counseling program dedicated to preventing genetic diseases and promoting healthy families. You can hear their incredibly moving story in person, along with 20 other amazing speakers, at End Well 2024 on 11/22 in LA! Get your tickets here: https://lnkd.in/geptXYfw 🎟️

"New research classifies the rise in home deaths as progress, but we need to look more closely at what these deaths look like.” In an article for The Wall Street Journal, End Well speaker, author, and palliative care physician Sunita Puri examines the growing trend of at-home deaths, questioning if we should deem them a “success.” Did this person die comfortably? Did their caregivers have the resources and guidance they needed? Was dying at home a choice or simply the only option? Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/ge5uG-hD

Kennedy Murphy's father passed away from a heart attack when she was just 5 years old. To help her cope with the overwhelming loss, she started attending a "grief camp" called Experience Camps for Grieving Children. Her time at camp helped her understand her own grief and has inspired her to team up with an incredible group of teens to create Grief Sucks Dot Com, a new digital platform for grieving teens. Kennedy is now 16 years old and will be speaking at End Well in November! We are so excited that she'll be joining us. Will you? Get tickets at https://lnkd.in/geptXYfw
