We wanted to take a moment and just say "CONGRATULATIONS!" to all of the #CLTEngineering Energy Concentration graduates on this special day. We can't wait to see how each of you will #ForgeTheFuture of the power and energy industry and beyond!

It's always rewarding to balance out the technical with the creative! We gave our KIT exchange students a well-deserved break to discover some of Charlotte's highlights while they're here from Germany. From cracking King Tut's Curse at an escape room to exploring the NASCAR Hall of Fame, we introduced them to just a taste of the diverse experiences available in Charlotte! #CLTEPIC

We love to see our students become involved in major events to showcase their handwork and talents!  Recently two students from our 2024 Collegiate Wind Competition team represented the UNC Charlotte College of Engineering at the International Partnering Forum in New Orleans, LA. There they showcased a project for "A Design of a Hybrid Offshore Wind Farm on Lake Michigan" to many global leaders and businesses in the offshore wind energy supply chain.  Congratulations to Melissa and Cody for this achievement ⭐️

Our student researchers from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology have landed here at EPIC and we're excited to welcome them to the team! Over the next several months, they will be working on a wide variety of power and energy focused projects. #CLTEPIC #CLTEngineering

It's always great to see what our students are up to in EPIC's Highbay! Our ASCE student chapter's steel bridge competition team has completed the fabrication of their design. CLEANcarolinas, a National Science Foundation Developmental Innovation Engine awarded to EPIC at UNC Charlotte and project partners, was honored to host the NC TOWERS quarterly meeting on February 1st at the Foundation for the Carolinas in Charlotte. CLEANcarolinas’ focus on driving economic development and job creation in the Carolinas, centered on convening critical stakeholders to support the development of offshore wind, aligns closely with that of the Task Force. Task Force Chair Marqueta Welton presided over the meeting, with NC Secretary of Commerce Machelle Baker Sanders in attendance. The program included an overview of the two-state CLEANcarolinas initiative led by Dr. Michael Mazzola, Project Director and a panel discussion with industry representatives currently working in the offshore wind supply chain.

CLEANcarolinas, a National Science Foundation Developmental Innovation Engine awarded to EPIC at UNC Charlotte, was honored to host the NC Department of Commerce and the NC Towers Task Force on January 31st for an evening reception at the Discovery Place Science Museum in Charlotte. With the theme of “offshore wind isn’t just a coastal opportunity”, the event brought together a broad array of public and private sector professionals working to advance offshore wind deployment. In her remarks focused on the economic development opportunities OSW will provide, Secretary of Commerce Machelle Baker Sanders reconfirmed Governor Roy Cooper’s commitment to attracting new industries and job creation by developing one of our most abundant and promising natural resources: the wind off our Carolina shores.
