Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) - The DoT has decided to bring telemarketers under regulatory control and fix accountability for controlling spam by TRAI. TRAI was established as per the TRAI Act, 1997. It aims to create and nurture conditions for the growth of telecommunications in the country. GS 3 | Economy Kaleswar Temple - A 13th-century stone inscription, or Veeragallu, has been uncovered during its renovation. It is one of the oldest temples of Karnataka and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Rashtrakutas and the Western Chalukya constructed it in the latter half of the 10th century. The temple is an example of early Cholan architecture. GS 1 | Art and Culture X-Band Radar - The Ministry of Earth Sciences approved an X-band radar for disaster-hit Wayanad, Kerala. It is a radar that emits radiation in the X-band of the electromagnetic spectrum: 8-12 GHz, corresponding to wavelengths of around 2-4 cm. The smaller wavelengths allow the radar to produce images of higher resolution. GS 3 | Science and Technology Northern Sea Route (NSR) - India and Russia are set to explore the Northern Sea Route as part of a joint project. It is a shipping lane running along the Russian Arctic coast from the Kara Sea to the Bering Strait, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It is an alternative to the Suez Canal route reducing distances by 40% between Europe and Asia.
