This is Your Brain on Magic Mushrooms! 🍄🧠 A new #Nature study led by Josh Siegel shows that high doses of psilocybin cause widespread changes in brain function, desynchronizing brain activity and altering our sense of self, time, and space. This desynchronization may drive brain plasticity triggered by psych€-delics. 🍄 Researchers tracked healthy adults before, during, and weeks after a psilocybin dose. They found profound desynchronization across the cerebral cortex and subcortex, especially in the default mode network (DMN), crucial for our sense of self. 🧠 Psilocybin’s disruptive effects decreased when participants focused on simple tasks, suggesting a basis for grounding during psychedelic therapy. 🍄 The study also showed a lasting decrease in connectivity between the anterior hippocampus and DMN circuits, controlling self-oriented thinking and memory. This shift might change how someone perceives their place and story in the world, potentially explaining psilocybin’s antidepressant effects. This study is likely the most advanced and extensive study on the brain effects of psych€-delics ever conducted, involving roughly 18 magnetic imaging visits per participant. Psychedelic science is moving fast, very curious for what will come next. https://lnkd.in/dgX-VhJB #mentalhealth #psychiatry #neuroscience #pharmacology

TO MY COMMUNITY: PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION TO SUPPORT MDMA-ASSISTED THERAPY FOR PTSD The FDA is on the verge of making a critical decision regarding the approval of MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD. Unfortunately, a recent recommendation from the FDA Advisory Committee opposed this approval, despite the significant potential benefits for millions living with PTSD. Clinical trials have demonstrated remarkable results, with 71% of participants no longer meeting the diagnostic criteria for PTSD after MDMA-assisted therapy. This therapy could offer a transformative solution for those struggling with this challenging condition. The FDA's final decision is due in August 2024. Your support is vital to help make this life-changing treatment available. By signing the petition, you can make a real difference. Every day without this treatment, we risk losing more lives to the devastating impact of PTSD. The time to act is NOW. And it takes two minutes! Sign the petition here: https://lnkd.in/eWqzmpHT Thank you for your support!

Psychedelic Saiyan ❌ Psychedelic HR ✔ The burnout rate among employees is staggering- 78% according to the UKG Workforce Institute! And it's not just burnout; productivity is plummeting too, and resignation is increasing during this ongoing war for talent. What does HR have for the mental well-being of their team? Traditional treatments are effective but tend to lose their potency over time. What then? Maybe psychedelic therapy, the talk around the town (or continent afar). Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAT) is being introduced as an ancillary benefit for employees. What’s the scoop on KAT?  It works wonders for treatment-resistant depression, Anxiety disorders, and PTSD So, who let the KAT out? I heard about KAT while listening to a podcast, People Managing People, by Enthea co-founder Sherry Rais Enthea, a US-based startup, is pioneering KAT. They're partnering with corporations to include KAT in employee benefit schemes. And the results? Out of 320 employees at a partnered organization, about 7% accessed the therapy: 🔥 An 86% improvement in PTSD 🔥 A 67% reduction in major depressive disorder symptoms 🔥 A 65% decline in generalized anxiety disorder symptoms Peter Thiel has invested in Atai Life Sciences, which is working towards producing some of the aforementioned drugs. HRs tried hard to manage the great resignation. Now they can look into great regeneration. Excited to share a fascinating article from the Financial Times about the growing interest in ketamine-assisted therapy as a potential treatment for employee mental health: https://lnkd.in/eJSCyeMq At Enthea, we're at the forefront of this exciting new frontier in employee wellness. As the article highlights, ketamine therapy offers a promising alternative for those struggling with treatment-resistant depression. The story of Liz Kost, a Marketing Operations Manager at Dr. Bronner's, is particularly compelling. After experiencing anxiety and sleep issues due to resurfaced childhood trauma, she found relief through ketamine therapy offered as part of her company's benefits package. This case study exemplifies the potential of ketamine therapy to: - Break the cycle of trauma: Kost describes ketamine as "a massage for the soul" that helped her move beyond ruminating thoughts. - Shift perspective: The experience allowed her to see the world in a more positive light. - Complement therapy: Kost emphasizes the importance of therapy alongside ketamine to process her experience. The Path Forward While ketamine therapy holds immense promise, the article rightly points out the need for responsible implementation. At Enthea, we ensure: - Rigorous Screening: We partner with qualified professionals who thoroughly assess patients before recommending ketamine therapy. - Safe Administration: Treatments are administered in controlled settings under - the supervision of medical professionals. Holistic Approach: Ketamine therapy is integrated with ongoing therapy for a well-rounded approach to mental health. Beyond Ketamine Enthea isn't just about ketamine. We're committed to exploring the full spectrum of safe and effective psychedelic therapies for employee well-being. The mental health crisis is a pressing issue, and we believe companies have a responsibility to offer innovative solutions. Let's Start a Conversation!
