Update: Senate Removes DJI Ban from 2025 NDAA Following Public Opposition The U.S. Senate has withdrawn the "Countering CCP Drones Act" from the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which would have imposed a nationwide ban on DJI drones. The decision follows substantial backlash from public safety agencies and drone operators who highlighted the severe operational and financial impacts such a ban could cause. While the legislation may resurface later in the process, the current stance reflects a balance between national security concerns and practical considerations within the drone industry. #DJI #DronePolicy #UAV #PublicSafety #NDAA #DroneIndustry #LegislationUpdate Read more here: https://lnkd.in/g6yFqE_p

🚨 **Important Update for Mining Claimants** 🚨 The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has issued a final rule to adjust its location and maintenance fees for unpatented mining claims, mill sites, and tunnel sites. These changes are effective starting July 1, 2024. Here's what you need to know: 🔹 **New Location Fee**: $49 for claims/sites located on or after September 1, 2024. 🔹 **New Maintenance Fee**: $200 per lode claim, mill site, or tunnel site, and $200 for each 20 acres of placer claims. 🔹 **Effective Date**: The new fees apply for the 2025 assessment year, beginning September 1, 2024. For claims/sites located before September 1, 2024, the previous fees still apply ($40 location fee and $165 maintenance fee for the 2024 assessment year). If you’ve already paid the 2025 maintenance fee at the old rate ($165), expect a notice from BLM to pay the difference. Remember, timely payment of annual maintenance fees is crucial to avoid forfeiture of your claims or sites. Stay informed and compliant to protect your mining interests! https://lnkd.in/gWw-WxNE #Mining #BLM #RegulationUpdate #LandManagement #MiningLaw

🚨 Potential DJI Ban: What It Means for Our Industry 🚨 The discussion around a potential DJI ban is heating up, largely due to concerns over data security and national security risks associated with the use of Chinese-made drones. This move could have significant implications for many sectors reliant on DJI technology. However, at EnviroMINE, while we utilize DJI drones to some extent, our primary operations leverage the Quantum Systems Trinity drone. As a result, our workflows and capabilities will remain largely unaffected. For many in the industry, this potential ban could mean a significant shift in operational strategies and investments in drone technology. While the concerns about data security are understandable, it's crucial to balance regulatory measures with the need for continued innovation. Let's stay informed and proactive as this situation evolves. Your insights on how this might impact our industry are welcome! #Drones #Technology #Innovation #Regulation #FutureOfWork #QuantumSystems #DJI https://lnkd.in/gPYpStRD

DIVISION OF MINE RECLAMATION ENFORCEMENT NOTIFICATION The Division of Mine Reclamation (DMR) has issued a notification regarding heightened enforcement efforts under the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act (SMARA) for fiscal year 2024-25. This includes ensuring that mine operators submit updated information and associated fees as required by PRC 2207, with administrative penalties for non-compliance. The focus will be on the 2023 reporting year, and past compliance history will influence penalty assessments. Additionally, DMR will rigorously review and inspect operations that fail to submit adequate and timely Financial Assurance Cost Estimates (FACE) and Financial Assurance Mechanisms (FAM) as required by PRC sections 2736 and 2773. Non-compliance may result in penalties or orders to cease mining activities. Mine operators are encouraged to review their compliance with the Public Resources Code, evaluate their status, and work with lead agency representatives to address any deficiencies. #Mining #Compliance #EnvironmentalRegulations #MineReclamation #Sustainability #RegulatoryCompliance #NaturalResources #CaliforniaMining #SMARA #EnvironmentalProtection

Don't make a costly mistake and miss the July 1st deadline to file your annual reports!! Mining Operation Annual Reports (Annual Reports) form MRRC-2, are required from all mines subject to SMARA. Regardless of the status of your mining operation, an Annual Report and payment for the applicable reporting fees must be submitted on an annual basis until reclamation is certified complete by both your lead agency and DMR. In order for an Annual Report to be considered complete and timely, all information requested on the form must be submitted along with payment for the reporting fee. A copy of the Annual Report must be filed with the respective lead agency by July 1 each year. For your convenience, DMR posts the updated Annual Report forms online during May of each year.  https://lnkd.in/dqRKWy5T

Revolutionizing Drone-based Stockpile Volume Measurements In mining operations, accurate stockpile volume measurement is not merely a matter of convenience; it's a critical element that can significantly impact productivity, safety, and profitability. Traditionally, this task has been carried out using manual methods that involve time-consuming processes, including ground surveys and physical measurements. Not only do these methods demand substantial labor, but they are also prone to human error. Furthermore, safety is paramount at mines, and the traditional approach poses risks to personnel.    At EnviroMINE, we’ve utilized the power of drone technology, since 2014, to create a stockpile measurement process that sets new standards for precision, efficiency, and safety. In that time, drones have become a standard practice in the industry and have been widely accepted as the tool of choice for most companies. However, not all drones and their platforms are created equal and the technology itself does not guarantee an increased level of accuracy. There is still a need for a competent methodology and understanding of the complications facing drone-based stockpile measurements.    Most drone platforms offer a similar end-product for their customers. As required by federal law, drone pilots must be licensed to fly at a mine. Images from the flight are processed into a two-dimensional map (see below). For the DIY variety, the customer can then outline the stockpiles on the map and get the results of the measurements relatively quickly. This process can offer a fast and simplistic approach, but not all mines and stockpiles are suitable. Below we will see how there are situations where a different methodology is necessary.  https://lnkd.in/gDGwWeVa
