We need to "make sure that we're charging fair rates to customers but also looking at a future where we need to get off of fossil fuels completely in order to avoid the worst impacts of climate change," Luke Metzger said. #txclimate https://lnkd.in/gUx-_TrH

Battery storage is a critical component to moving Texas to a clean energy future and improving reliability of the electric grid. Now, a battery storage facility -- known as the Ochoa Project -- is being proposed to be built on industrial land in Katy, Texas. Join us for a virtual meeting on Thursday, Sept. 5 from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. to learn more about the project and how you can help. Texas is the national leader in utility-scale solar and wind energy, and the ability to store that abundant clean energy for later will help us maximize our abundant renewable energy resources. The Ochoa project needs approval from the Katy city council and we unfortunately expect some opposition, so we need your help. In the virtual meeting, we’ll discuss the benefits of battery storage and what it’s going to take to win. All are welcome to attend, you don’t have to live in Katy. https://lnkd.in/gQek-_ep

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has one set of pollution rules for oil and gas drilling in the DFW area (the Barnett Shale) and much weaker rules for the rest of the state. Join the call for TCEQ to apply these pollution standards equally across the state. https://lnkd.in/gNgg7VdC

"Earlier this month, Environment Texas, a nonprofit that advocates for clean air and water across the state, hosted a clean-up event at Sylvan Beach. Specifically, volunteers were cleaning up plastic pellets, a kind of microplastic found in Galveston Bay. These tiny little plastic beads, also known as nurdles, are the building blocks used to create plastic products." https://lnkd.in/eu6EvFBG

Building crossings for wildlife at 11 of TxDOT’s planned road projects would more than pay for themselves through avoided animal vehicle collisions (for which TX ranks 1st in the nation). https://lnkd.in/gRj3U4hN
