When was the last time an event truly changed the way you think? To most, they believe a great event is about: • Lining up strong speakers • Managing logistics • Making sure everything runs smoothly The typical boring jargon you might think of when it comes to “event planning”… As the volunteer Learning Chair for EO Boston, that’s what most people think I do. And it’s easy to believe that if you check all those boxes, you’ve pulled off a ‘good’ event. I ventured down to New Orleans last week for the EO Learning Summit, and as always, I expected great conversations. But what surprised me was the total reframing of how I plan to approach events altogether after this experience. → ”𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹” 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁. As I sat in Ethan King's session, I could feel the value he provided. Right in front of us, he demonstrated how AI-generated speaker intros could prime an audience and create an immediate sense of energy before a speaker even says a word. Then, just as I was wrapping my head around that, another attendee took it further, introducing an interactive podcast tool (NotebookLM) where listeners could jump in, ask questions, and receive AI-driven responses in real time as if they’re on a podcast. It was one of those moments where you realize: “𝘈𝘩, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨!” And this was even after I had the pleasure of listening to Ethan speak at an EO Boston masterclass day last September. You could say I learned a lot that day. It’s one thing to hear about innovation. It’s another to feel its impact. That’s exactly what the EO Learning Summit Delivered. I think fellow EO Boston SAP Chair Sandra Batakis had the same takeaway at her Summit, taking place at the same place and time. If all people remember is the venue, the drinks, and who they ran into, then you’ve missed the point.
