📲 Keep Your Devices and Apps Up to Date! 📲 As Cybersecurity Awareness Month wraps up, let’s talk about one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to protect yourself: updates. Did you know updating your devices and apps isn’t just about getting the latest features? It’s also crucial for security. Updates often include fixes for vulnerabilities that cybercriminals are eager to exploit 🚪👾. By updating, you’re ensuring your devices stay as secure as possible. Here’s how to stay protected: ● Don’t Delay—Update Today! We know those update notifications always seem to pop up at the worst times. But while you’re waiting, cybercriminals aren’t. 🙏 ● Turn on Automatic Updates: This ensures you always have the latest security patches without lifting a finger. Do you prefer manual updates? Make it a habit by adding the tasks to your calendar and checking for them regularly. Keeping your devices and apps up to date is one of the easiest and most effective ways to protect your data and privacy. Dr. Jessica Barker explains the importance of updates: https://lnkd.in/e4MNCkJA Stay safe, and keep those updates rolling! 🔒 #secureourworld #staysafeonline

Swannanoa, NC was especially hard hit. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, a collaboration of neighbors, local nonprofits, businesses, and churches formed the SWANNANOA GRASSROOTS ALLIANCE to inform the community and support relief, recovery, and rebuilding efforts in the Swannanoa Valley. https://lnkd.in/eRnpq3St #helenerecovery_wnc #swannanoavalley

Our community is making progress slowly but surely and safely. Here is the latest update on western North Carolina, including Asheville and Buncombe County: ➡️ Many businesses and restaurants are reopening as widespread power and water service return. Please let us know your business status here: https://lnkd.in/dTGmDErf ✈️ The Asheville Regional Airport is open and operating. 🏰 Biltmore has announced plans to welcome guests on November 2. ⛰ Areas of the Pisgah Ranger District have reopened, and Grandfather Mountain will reopen tomorrow, October 23. 🌆 Downtown Asheville infrastructure remained largely untouched by the storm, allowing shops and restaurants to reopen, some with limited operations. ⚠️ There are areas that need more time and support. We are mindful that high impact areas—including Biltmore Village, Swannanoa, and parts of the River Arts District—have a much longer road ahead, so travel to these areas is not advised. We are here for our neighbors throughout western North Carolina. 🗺 Visit North Carolina will continue to update its travel advisory map to reflect the conditions of each community. https://lnkd.in/dcCDceJ9 Our deeply rooted, creative community needs support from those inspired to visit our majestic region. We are asking visitors to please be patient, gentle, and respectful as they plan their return❤️🩹 #AlwaysAsheville

Cybersecurity Awareness Month rolls on! Let’s dive into a real game-changer for online security: Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). It adds an extra layer of protection, so even if cybercriminals get hold of your password, they still can’t access your account. Think of it as a double lock on your door! 🚪🔒 MFA works by confirming it’s really you. For example, when signing in on a new device or changing sensitive settings, you’ll use a unique code generated by authenticator apps like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Duo, or one sent to your phone. 🚨 Time to Lock it Down: ● Enable MFA on all your critical accounts—work, personal email, banking, social media—wherever possible. It’s a quick step that greatly boosts your security. ● Don’t Approve Unfamiliar MFA Requests: If you receive an MFA prompt that you didn’t initiate, don’t approve it! And if it happens more than once, report it to the IT or security team or your service provider immediately. Stay one step ahead of the bad actors and lock down your digital life with MFA. https://lnkd.in/eCYWWVin #secureourworld #cybersecurityawarenessmonth_wnc
