These actions are not surprising! When we live in a region that is extremely segregated and undergoing demographic and political change with very little action being taken by the XI Association and some school districts to provide DEI and cultural proficiency training; I can guarantee these type of incidents will increase! https://lnkd.in/edEEcRnR

Yolande Cornelia Nikki Giovanni- We love you and honor you for all you brought to us! Your mischievous smile hid an intellect, a talent, a commitment to your people and ending racism and oppression, and a capacity for love that we experienced in your presence, your conversations, and written word! Thank you! Take Flight!

In the 10th most segregated region in the nation-Long Island-Nassau County releases a disparity study (a year later) finding that there is both a racial and gender disparity when it comes to business owners who win county contracts. While Nassau County says it has taken steps, they simply aren't enough! An electronic certification process and more outreach won't cut it if your processes are still barriers to access. Additional steps needed include: Nassau County should create a taskforce to actually review your processes, provide actual support to these small businesses who may not have the resources to make it through an arduous process, and ask yourself why is the process arduous at all? When you know better! You must do better! https://lnkd.in/eQ8W_QbP

This #GivingTuesday, let’s invest in a future free from racism! Your gift can make a difference as we nurture young leaders and investors in the next generation of anti-racist activists. Hear from one of our student interns, Maheen Asaf of Herricks High School, as shares her internship experience. #GivingTuesday #DonateToday #YouCanMakeADifference #EraseRacism

What an incredible day! On Saturday, August 31st, ERASE Racism and Laura Harding hosted its inaugural Brunch and Banter event, Mimosas and Mic Drops with MSNBC political analyst and host Joy-Ann Reid and civil rights activist & lawyer and former NYC mayoral candidate, Maya Wiley. This event featured a delicious catered brunch provided by Chef Ronica Copes of Five Star Crab Cakes as Joy and Maya led a powerful conversation about race, politics, women in leadership, and their most recent works, Medgar and Myrlie and Remember, You're A Wiley! See our video below for a few highlights from the event! To view the event journal, click here: https://lnkd.in/dujFHDTJ.
