The circles represent the 51 grain bins, and the squares represent over 30 wagons. Each grain bin stores at least one, and in some cases, five or more species. Showy Goldenrod (Solidago speciosa) is a native perennial, yellow in color, and is found in open woods, prairies, and fields. There is a common misconception that goldenrod causes allergies, but they do not have airborne pollen and cannot reach the sinuses. Showy Goldenrod is a nectar source for migrating monarch butterflies and has a special pollinator value to honeybees and native bees. The seed heads also provide nutrition for migrating birds in the fall and local birds in the winter.
