#ThrowbackThursday to last week’s Environmental & Water Resources Forum October Field Trip to Chatfield State Park. The tour was led by Moneka Worah and Charly Hoehn of ERO Resources Corporation. Here is some information that was shared during the tour: The Chatfield Reservoir Storage Reallocation Project reallocates 20,600 acre feet of Chatfield’s flood control storage to water supply storage to be used by municipal and agricultural water providers to help meet the diverse needs of Colorado. The design detailed the restoration of 1.3 miles of severely eroded Plum Creek with riffle-pool stream complexes, natural meandering planforms, and restored secondary channels that reconnect streams to their floodplains, rehydrate adjacent wetland benches, and dissipate flow energy naturally to provide a healthier functioning system and enhance the riparian habitat. The holistic, sustainable approach for mitigation protects the ecological resources of the park for its many users with a natural design that is sustainable, cost effective, and reduces long-term maintenance requirements. #Environment #WaterResources #ACECcolorado #ConsultingEngineers
