Our Convention Center Construction team celebrated the successful completion of the $40 million roof project during their construction meeting on September 26. The completion marks a major milestone for our facility, and we couldn’t have done it without the collaboration and commitment of every individual involved. Last week, we joined partners from across South Louisiana’s H2theFuture initiative, representatives from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, and energy industry leaders for a "wall-breaking" ceremony commemorating the Louisiana Future Energy Center (LFEC), located on the campus of The Beach at UNO at University of New Orleans. The project, a partial renovation to several floors of the CERM building, will position Louisiana as a national leader in energy innovation, education, and economic growth by establishing a destination for energy startups through a compelling mix of coworking, private office, and meeting and collaboration space. The project was made possible through a $10M grant from the Build Back Better Framework established by the federal government. Architectural interventions and Interior finishes strived to pay deference to the transformative work to be done within, with elemental nods to energy, nature, water, and wind — all of which the LFEC will look to harness. The facility will be powered by distributed solar, allowing it to operate emission-free, reflecting the future of clean energy the Center was created to foster. Highlights from the 2024 Black Women in Architecture Brunch - New Orleans Last Sunday, we gathered at the EskewDumezRipple Studio to celebrate and empower Black women in architecture, joining cities like Atlanta, Oakland, Houston, and New York for a powerful virtual networking brunch. It was an inspiring day filled with great conversations, shared experiences, and moments of connection, all while tuning in to the national event broadcast from Washington, D.C. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to creating this vibrant, supportive space! Together, we're building a stronger community and uplifting the voices of Black women in architecture. Shoutout to Aida Ayuk, Whitney Smith, Michelle Carroll-Barr, and others from our office who helped put on a wonderful event!

LUMCON Blue Works received a 2024 AIA Louisiana Merit Award for Architecture! Located in an industrial area of Houma, Louisiana, Blue Works is a new 25,500 SF satellite campus for the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium LUMCON. A statewide academic endeavor, their stated mission is "to promote, facilitate, and conduct research and education collaborations among Louisiana’s universities relevant to the sustainability of coastal and marine environments of the Gulf of Mexico." Featuring research labs, classrooms, and assembly spaces, the facility complements LUMCON’s original but increasingly threatened facility in Cocodrie. If the original LUMCON allowed scientists from all over Louisiana access to facilities for research on the Gulf, Blue Works LUMCON is designed to make that accessible to the public. We are excited to see what the folks at LUMCON Blue Works will do to impact Louisiana coastal resiliency, and we could not be prouder of our team for this recognition.
