We are excited to welcome Arthur DuReitz as our new FSO starting 3/12/24! Art brings a wide range of experience in the security field across various domains. After serving 23 years in the Air Force, mostly with Special Operations Command as a Jet Engine Mechanic, he entered the security field upon retirement in 2017. He has worked in the Special Access Program environment (SAP) and with various other weapons programs as a security specialist with the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Armament Directorate (AFLCMC/EB) at Eglin AFB, FL. Since 2020, he has been performing as a Facility Security Officer for a large consulting firm working with subject matter experts in supporting many Department of Defense contracts. He graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with a BS in Technical Management. He is married with two children who both graduated from Florida State University and now have their own careers.  Some of his hobbies include bicycling, hiking, ice hockey, and traveling.

Commonly when approaching a machine learning problem practitioners may employ several different models, augmentations, and optimizations schemes. Based on the results they can then make informed decisions about what models performed best. However, a key problem is that just because model A did better than model B, does not mean that model A learned all the stuff (plus more) of model B. Model A and B could still have learned quite different features of the data. This idea was explored by researchers where they showed “that any pairing of models trained on the same dataset with different training protocols (e.g. changes in architecture or optimization) exhibits significant complementary knowledge - data context encoded in one model and not the other”. They further expand on this and provide novel techniques to combine the knowledge from any two models.
