🎥 EU-JAMRAI 2 Annual Meeting: Watch the highlights!   Last week in Bilbao, nearly 400 participants -onsite and online- came together with a shared mission: to contain antimicrobial resistance (#AMR) through collaboration, innovation, and a One Health approach.   Over two intense days, we exchanged knowledge, strengthened partnerships, and shaped the future of EU-JAMRAI 2. Now, we're excited to share a video recap capturing the key moments, inspiring discussions, and collective energy that made this gathering so impactful.   A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this milestone event -our partners, policymakers, experts, and institutions that are driving this mission forward. 🧑🏫Today, our colleagues from the AMR Stewardship work area have organised a Focus Group to discuss innovative learning strategies in relation to antimicrobial resistance to foster the capacities and skills of professionals. Thank you to the experts from Conecta13, Plan Nacional frente a la Resistencia a los Antibióticos PRAN, Agencia Española de Medicamentos y Productos Sanitarios, Hospital Universitario Clínico San Cecilio , Escuela Andaluza de Salud Pública - EASP, Facultad de Farmacia Granada, and Colegio Oficial de Veterinarios de Granada for the valuable insights and contributions!

The Veterinary Epidemiology and Clinical Infectiology group of Faculteit Diergeneeskunde (Universiteit Utrecht) are joining forces with 120 institutes from 30 European countries, to combat antimicrobial resistence by a One Health approach! Happy to have celebrated the first annual meeting of EU-JAMRAI in my beautiful city, Bilbao! During the event, the #environment was the most mentioned factor among the issues that are forgotten when talking about #AMR, which shows a general concern on how important it is to integrate environmental strategies if we really want to understand the full picture of the problem and address it at all levels. The good news? We’re actively working on antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention & control strategies in the environment at EU-JAMRAI Our shared goal is to reduce AMR determinant emissions into the environment to protect both human and animal health from exposure risks. EU-JAMRAI 2 Annual Meeting: 400 participants walking together to contain #AMR "Our EU-JAMRAI 2 identity is about building a One Health world together to reduce antimicrobial resistance. We have built a true One Health community in AMR. However, creating a community takes time. I strongly believe in human relationships and you cannot establish a long-lasting consortium with so many partners, from different backgrounds, without taking the time to get to know each other and understand one another. Over the last two days, we have heard key terms such as sharing, integration, collaboration, interaction, behavior change, multidisciplinarity, harmonization, integrated governance, and networking. So, walking together is the key". —Marie-Cécile Ploy, Coordinator of EU-JAMRAI 2.   EU-JAMRAI 2 held its first Annual Meeting on 12–13 March 2025, bringing together nearly 400 participants in Bilbao and online. This milestone event marked a significant step forward in Europe's collective effort to reduce one of the most urgent global health problems: antimicrobial resistance. A huge thank you to Biosistemak for hosting the European Commission, policymakers, and leading scientific experts for this crucial gathering.   The Bilbao meeting served as a platform to present the progress achieved in the first year of the project and to define priorities for the next three years. Discussions focused on sustainable collaboration among countries to share best practices and drive progress in reducing AMR. Representatives from esteemed organizations such as the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), the World Health Organization (WHO), and other international institutions participated, enriching the dialogue with their expertise.   As we reflect on the insights and strategies shared during this meeting, we remain committed to advancing our collective efforts to reduce antimicrobial resistance. Together, we can safeguard the efficacy of antimicrobials for future generations. Thank you, Danilo Lo-Fo-Wong, for reminding us today at the EU-JAMRAI conference in Bilbao that “WHO is for all countries with a mission to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable.” All countries are fortunate to have the wisdom and commitment of the World Health Organization.
