Congratulations to Henry Levin, Ph.D., and Brant Weinstein, Ph.D., on their election as fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Dr. Levin, who heads the NICHD Section on Eurkaryotic Transposable Elements, was honored for distinguished contributions to the fields of molecular genetics and microbiology. His lab analyzes mobile DNA sequences and how their integration into the chromosomes of host cells contributes to their functions and can lead to disease. Dr. Weinstein, who heads the NICHD Section on Vertebrate Organogenesis, was honored for his contributions to vascular biology. His lab studies early development using zebrafish, mouse, cell culture, and cavefish models. Learn more at https://go.nih.gov/sl2B1ka. #BasicScience #NICHDimpact #AAAS
