One of the bittersweet moments of EVEN being fully self-service is that we often catch artists’ moments after their release is already live. On the one hand, it’s so exciting to see the product work on its own, but there are days when I miss the manual process of doing everything for the client. Today, the team flagged an artist with 10,000 monthly listeners on streaming platforms who joined EVEN in March of this year. In April, he released his first EP on EVEN and made $642 in two weeks. This past Sunday, he released his second EP on EVEN and made $2,100 in just four days. This artist makes $500 a year from streaming. That's $41 a month with 10,000 fans. With EVEN, he has grown his business by 448% with just 240 fans. This is the power of getting EVEN. #musicnews #musicindustry #d2c #DIY #streaming #superfans

“Making $48 from 4 sales might seem small to some, but to me, it’s everything. Each dollar is a vote of confidence in my dream, and I can’t thank you enough.” — DIY Artist on EVEN Let’s do some music industry math: • Over 80% of artists on streaming platforms don’t make a single dollar from streaming each year. • Most artists actually pay to distribute their music streaming platforms. The average yearly cost to upload music is $50. • To break even, an artist needs at least 14,285 streams—roughly 2,857 fans. But here’s the kicker: If those streams are spread across 15 songs on Spotify, that artist doesn’t get paid because they didn’t reach the new 1,000 streams per song threshold. Result? Back to zero. Every year, over 8 million artists pay to release music on streaming platforms and earn nothing in return. 12 months ago, I thought EVEN was for artists with a few thousand fans. I was wrong. EVEN is for all artists. Here’s why: Dollars > Streams. Consider an artist who joined EVEN through one of our DIY distro partners this month: • Under 300 monthly listeners on Spotify • Earns less than $15/year on streaming With EVEN they made: • $48 in the first 24 hours • Over $100 in a weekend • Projected $300-$500 before streaming Check out the graphic they made! 🔥 Now multiply this by 8M artists… the global music industry would grow by $4B+ (14%) in yearly revenue. This is what getting EVEN looks like. #musicindustry #musicnews #dtc #streaming #diy #superfans

"No one is canceling their Spotify account when they buy an album on EVEN." During our launch in April, I received an exciting email inviting me to be a guest on the Earn Your Leisure podcast. EYL is a leading platform in business, finance, and entrepreneurship. I was honored to be a part of their new season and talk about EVEN's journey leading up to our launch and what we have in store for the future. Episode 301, 'Cut Out The Middle Man,' now avaiable on YouTube and all podcast platforms: https://lnkd.in/eA3TVFaH A huge thank you to Troy Millings and Rashad for having me. #musicnews #musicindustry #dtc #superfans #EVEN #spotify

MYTH: You need a massive fanbase to make money from your music. FACT: Not on EVEN. The truth is, DIY artists with fewer than 10 monthly listeners and less than 100 fans on EVEN are earning thousands. Unlike other streaming services where artists receive just a fraction of what they deserve, EVEN empowers artists by allowing fans to buy directly from them. This is the power of going direct. We’re changing the music industry by putting control back into the hands of the creators. On EVEN, it's not about the number of listeners but the connection between the artist and the fan. #GetEVEN #BuyTheArtFromTheArtist

How do you even split a penny into three pieces? (Asking for a friend). We meet with artists and teams every day who agree that $0.004/stream is not sustainable. When I started building EVEN two years ago, I began by analyzing the streaming data and revenue of over 100 artists, from emerging DIY artists to global stars. What I discovered was both upsetting and unsurprising. Artists need over 200,000 fans to listen to their music to make $5,000 a month from streaming. 200,000 people every month have to listen to an artist more than 5 times (assuming these are premium listeners) just for that artist to survive and pay their bills. This is wild on its own, but it gets even wilder when you realize that if this were any other business in the world that had 200,000 customers, you would be making hundreds of thousands to millions every month. It became apparent that the music industry has a streaming problem. That year, we launched EVEN’s MVP and saw that, with EVEN, an artist only needs 200 fans to make $5,000, just like any other business. Who would have thought that people would be willing to pay for music simply by putting a price tag on it again? The solution to the streaming problem is simple: MUSIC SHOULD NOT BE FREE! Sell music first directly to fans with EVEN. Upload to streaming platforms second. That is the formula. #musicindustry #musicnews #streaming #dtc #superfans #EVEN #consumer

Recently, we hosted a contest with California rapper LaRussell to support his new album Majorly Independent. We flew one lucky winner out to attend one of his sold-out backyard shows. Tray, our winner from Atlanta, is a standout in LaRussell’s fan community. This is what sets EVEN apart from the rest: our ability to connect fans with artists in ways that are impactful for both. This is what you can achieve when you get EVEN. #buytheartfromtheartist

This week on EVEN, singer Trevor Jackson launched his latest album "It’s Complicated" on EVEN and using our custom Access Points, was able to offer fans one of kind experiences at varying price points. One fan decided to pay $900 for not only the album but a chance to meet him. Are your fans doing that? This is the power of EVEN, where fans buy the art from the artist. #timetogetEVEN #buytheartfromtheartist
