💡 Not all problems are created equal—so how do you solve what truly matters? In this episode, I sat down with Anand Madhavan , VP of Engineering at Everlaw, to talk about engineering leadership, problem-solving, and how to move beyond surface-level fixes. Anand shares his framework for identifying core pain points, prioritizing what matters, and applying first-principles thinking to develop real, lasting solutions. Instead of forcing old solutions onto new problems, he emphasizes a bottoms-up approach—analyzing challenges from their root cause and adapting solutions accordingly. 🚀 Key Takeaways: ✅ Not all problems are equally important—stack ranking helps teams focus on high-impact issues. ✅ A bottoms-up approach allows engineers to innovate rather than just implement. ✅ First-principles thinking ensures that solutions aren’t just reused, but truly effective for the challenge at hand. 🚨 Seeing is no longer believing! The legal industry is facing a big problem with #deepfakes. Courtrooms are not yet flooded with a tsunami of deepfake evidence, but with this artificial intelligence-generated technology playing with great success on social media and in fraud schemes, it’s only a matter of time before deepfakes regularly drop into the exhibit list. ⚡ “Deepfakes force us to confront an uncomfortable truth: Seeing is no longer believing. As forensic experts, we’re not just authenticating evidence—we’re trying to safeguard the integrity of the justice system in an era where digital manipulation can rewrite reality,” Jerry Bui. 👉 Read more in ‘The End of Reality? ✨ What an incredible hour with one of the world’s top storytellers at our company ⚡IGNITE sales kickoff! Thanks to cognitive scientist and A Slight Change of Plans podcaster Maya Shankar for joining Everlaw last week, and to our Women's ERG for sponsoring this! Maya leads with her heart, sharing how life's curveballs can drive growth. Her exploration of human behavior offers new perspectives on change – from personal to professional and organizational. Like the breadth of her podcast, there were many ah-ha moments in her convo with our founder and CEO AJ Shankar. Here are three takeaways from Maya: 1️⃣ When feeling afloat, anchor to your passion. Change feels like loss because it brings uncertainty, but it also can reveal what matters. Maya felt she lost her identity as a violinist but realized she hadn’t lost what she truly loved—connecting with people.  She became a cognitive scientist to study the human mind and behavior, forging stronger connections. By anchoring to the deeper purpose behind our passions, we can navigate change with resilience. 2️⃣ Build trust by aligning goals. Whether in legaltech sales or personal growth, aligning your goals with others’ motivations can create momentum. Maya gave examples of how aligning goals of organizational programs with behavioral science insights expanded free school lunch programs and addressed issues in the Flint water crisis.  The key: removing friction and building trust. 3️⃣ Get wins on the board. “Being an impatient person. I want things to happen yesterday.” Maya’s advice is to build momentum in a small way by getting wins on the board and taking extreme ownership, eg…”If this goes to pieces, I will take the penalties for you.” You’ll have many more nos than yeses but if you make the denominator big enough you’ll notch wins. We're so grateful to Maya for sharing her journey with us and illuminating another dimension of our CEO along the way! 👉 Sign up for Maya's NEW newsletter: “Change with Maya Shankar” here: https://lnkd.in/gjHAKr97 #SiblingStrength #WomensHistoryMonth #Leadership #Resilience #Change #MondayMotivation

We've been warning of the risk that deepfakes pose to evidence gathering and the legal process for over a year; that warning has begun to be echoed within the discipline.

Not to fangirl too hard, but one of the big highlights of my last week was seeing Maya Shankar, who hosts one of my favorite podcasts A Slight Change of Plans, live during a fireside chat w/our CEO (and her brother! I'm sorry, I'm picking my favorite sibling here...). She has such an accessible, clear way to get at the complexities of the human heart (and mind) and what it means for all of us to grapple with change and come out the other side better for it. She had lots of great tidbits about what drives our motivations, how change can transform us for the better, what it looks like to take initiative and go after your aspirations, and how to authentically connect with others and shift minds - it felt especially relevant in today's climate. Thank you Everlaw for this awesome experience and go listen to her podcast if you haven't already! #womenshistorymonth #weshouldbefriends #shesgotmydreamjob
