About us

Mission: EveryMind strengthens communities and empowers individuals to reach optimal mental wellness. About EveryMind: Since 1957, EveryMind has been a trusted mental health resource providing direct services, community education and advocacy, which bring healing, hope and wholeness to children, youth, adults, veterans and families. While EveryMind provides services throughout the entire National Capital Region, our services typically target the community’s most vulnerable and low-income residents. In the past year, EveryMind provided direct services to more than 16,000 individuals. EveryMind’s programs and services are directed at reducing the stigma associated with mental illness and ensuring our entire community has the resources they need to reach optimal mental wellness. These programs include: ServingTogether, which coordinates a network of resources for veterans, service members and their families; crisis prevention and intervention services for the entire community; case management and counseling services for children, youth, adults and families; Linkages to Learning, which provides school-based mental health services for at-risk students and families; Representative Payee, which helps individuals with a disability or mental illness manage their finances; and Friendly Visitor, which combats loneliness and isolation among older adults.

With ongoing confusion and uncertainty around executive orders, federal cuts and layoffs, on Tuesday more than 650 residents tuned for the kick off of Montgomery County’s United in Service and Support webinar series to assist federal workers, contractors and residents. We were very fortunate to be joined by Senator Chris Van Hollen, who shared resources with residents on how to get in touch with his office and joined us to answer questions from residents. He encouraged residents to reach out to his office and federal workers, in particular, who believe they have been terminated without just cause, to share their story as our democratic representatives in the House and Senate come together to find solutions to minimize harm to our region, our residents, and restore the rule of law. We were also joined by County Executive Elrich and HHS Health Insurance Manager Sean Gibson to talk about County resources. Additionally, Mary Beth Hastings a MoCo resident shared the impact the current federal administration’s decisions are having on the federal workforce, particularly for those working in vital spaces like human rights, democracy, economic development, public health, and gender equality. I will host the next webinar with U.S. Congressman Jamie Raskin which is focused on mental health support and resources scheduled for this Thursday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. We will also have representatives from HHS, EveryMind, MoCoPride and the Black Physicians and Healthcare Network to provide resources and answer questions. You can sign up for the webinars on the county website. Each of the webinars are recorded and posted on the Council’s website. Residents can also find them on YouTube or County Cable Montgomery. If community members have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office, and we will make sure to put you in contact with someone who can help. https://lnkd.in/eyZmWpBx

  • Yesterday, our EveryMind team was in Annapolis, standing alongside so many others to push back against $116 million in proposed cuts to mental health services in Maryland—including $90 million from the Maryland Blueprint for schools and $20 million from 988 crisis response.   These proposed cuts don’t just ignore the growing need for support, they actually cost more in the long run. When people can’t get mental health care, they don’t just stop needing it. They end up in ERs, in crisis, or without support, adding more strain (and cost) to an already overwhelmed system. Investing in mental health services now means fewer crises later—it’s the right thing to do, and it’s the smart thing to do.   EveryMind sees this play out every single day. We’re on the ground answering 988 calls, showing up in schools to provide support, and connecting community members to resources. We know what happens when services are cut, and we know how much it matters to keep them going.   Maryland can’t afford to turn away from mental health. We’re going to keep fighting to strengthen and sustain the behavioral health funding our communities need.
