Reflecting on Our Journey and Looking Ahead It’s always rewarding to take a step back and see how far we've come as an organization, especially alongside our long-term partners. Today, we had the pleasure of hosting several key members from Spokane Public Schools, Community Outreach, and other local programs for a tour of our new space. We had a fantastic conversation with Nicole Jenkins Rosenkeatz, Executive Director of Community Relations & Diversity Training at Spokane Public Schools, and Oscar Harris, PhD, Chief Family and Community Engagement Officer. Their insights were invaluable as we discussed our future plans and shared reflections on how far we’ve come. It was also a meaningful experience to revisit our former space and appreciate the large real estate area we’ve utilized over the years. Our conversations reaffirmed the importance of collaboration as we continue to grow and work toward positive change in the community. We're excited to share something close to our hearts—plans for a new community that brings together young adults and elders in Spokane. We believe in the power of connection, and this project is about creating a place where people can grow and support each other across generations. In a time when loneliness has been called an epidemic by the United States Surgeon General in 2023, we know how important it is to feel part of something bigger. Our Intergenerational Living Community will be a space where elders and young adults can form meaningful relationships, share wisdom, and truly make a difference in each other’s lives. It’s not just housing—it’s hope, mentorship, and belonging. We’re close to making this vision a reality, and we’re grateful for the heart and commitment each of team members, community partners, donors on this project brings to our mission. We are excited to share that last night marked the Soft Opening of the newly remodeled Excelsior Wellness Center! This project has been a remarkable journey, and we’re proud of the collective efforts that brought this vision to life. A special thank you to all of the members of our team, Bernardo Wills, our design team, the Department of Commerce, and everyone involved in creating this beautiful space. Additionally, during the remodel, we were honored to discover ancient petroglyphs from the original caretakers of this land—the Indigenous Native people. We are committed to preserving and protecting this important piece of history. We were also deeply grateful to have David Browneagle of the Spokane Tribe join us to offer a blessing as we embarked on this journey. His years of service to the community are truly appreciated. We extend our gratitude to our CEO, Andrew Hill, for his visionary leadership. Andrew’s belief that healthcare should go beyond treating illness and focus on overall wellness has been at the heart of our work. This center stands as a testament to that vision and the dedication of our team, who embody the values of compassionate care. Thank you to all who have been part of this journey!
