New Lynx model hot off the presses 🔥
Today, we are excited to release Lynx v1.1, a smaller, state of the art RAG hallucination detection model 🚀 Even though companies use RAG to reduce hallucinations, LLMs can still produce unsupported or contradictory information. Since we released Lynx v1.0 a few weeks ago, thousands of developers have used it in all kinds of real world applications. Lynx v1.1 is the best performing RAG hallucination detection model of its size, enabling real-time hallucination detection in AI applications ✨ - Beats Claude-3.5-Sonnet on HaluBench by 3% - Outperforms GPT-4o on medical questions and answers by 6.8% - 1.4% higher accuracy than Lynx v1.0 on HaluBench - Outperforms all open source models on LLM-as-judge tasks - Open source, open weights and open data Use Lynx 1.1 with any of our Day 1 integration partners like NVIDIA, MongoDB, and Nomic AI 🚀 Check out the Hugging Face Spaces demo: https://lnkd.in/gcjVmeNG Download Lynx v1.1 on Hugging Face: https://lnkd.in/gvMbRddM Download Lynx v1.1 (Quantized) on Hugging Face: https://lnkd.in/g3xAFJZh Read the arXiv paper: https://lnkd.in/eznVjrWA Read the blog: https://lnkd.in/eYaP5Zpe

Today, I am super excited to introduce Lynx, the leading hallucination detection model! 🚀 Hallucinations make it really hard to ship AI products. To address this problem, developers have begun to use general-purpose LLMs like GPT-4 to evaluate other LLMs (‘LLM-as-a-judge’). However, general-purpose LLMs weren’t designed to be great at evaluation. Prior research shows that current LLM-as-a-judge approaches are unreliable and inconsistent. Enter Lynx. Lynx beats GPT-4o and all state-of-the-art LLMs on RAG hallucination tasks. And we’ve open sourced it ✨ You can use quantized Lynx-8B locally, use Lynx-70B with GPUs, or just reach out to Patronus AI for easy API access 😃 We are thrilled to launch Lynx with our Day 1 Integration Partners: NVIDIA, MongoDB, and Nomic AI. ⚡ At Patronus AI, our mission is to make high quality LLM evaluation accessible to everyone. The best is yet to come. Congrats on the launch Substrate! Substrate is the first API of its kind, optimized for running multi-step AI workloads fast. Proud to back this team along with Lightspeed, South Park Commons, Red Swan Ventures, Craft Ventures and Lorimer Ventures
Last September, I left Stripe after 8+ years to build something new with my friend Rob Cheung. Today, we're launching Substrate, the first inference API optimized for multi-step AI workloads. https://substrate.run With Substrate, you connect nodes from a curated library that includes optimized ML models, built-in file and vector storage, a code interpreter, and logical control flow. By simply connecting nodes, you describe a graph workflow, which Substrate then analyzes and runs as fast as possible. Entire graphs of many nodes will often run on a single machine, with microsecond communication between tasks. With this launch, we're announcing our $8M Series Seed led by Lightspeed with participation from South Park Commons, Craft Ventures, Red Swan Ventures, and Lorimer Ventures, joined by industry luminaries like Guillermo Rauch, Immad Akhund, William Gaybrick, Chris Best, Gokul Rajaram, Shreyas Doshi, Jana Messerschmidt, Michael Manapat, and Matthew Hartman. We’ve been working on Substrate privately for nearly a year. We’ve battle-tested the product with great customers like Substack, and we’re finally ready to open access to everyone. Substrate was built by an exceptional team: Liam Griffiths, Rishabh Parikh, 💭 Kyle Pitzen, and Chris S., who bring years of experience building world-class software at Stripe, Pulumi, Robust Intelligence, Confluent, Zendesk, and Grailed. Truly, I have never enjoyed working with a group of people more in my entire career. Thank you to all our friends and early supporters for helping us in the first chapter of this adventure: Aditya Agarwal, Ruchi Sanghvi, Shreyans Bhansali, Namrata Patel, Andrew Kortina, iqram and the immigrant groove, Sam Lessin, Julian Connor, Mike Cohen, Jairaj Sethi, Chris Mueller, Stanislas Polu, Sabrina Hahn, Anne Lee Skates, Audrey Kim, Quinn Garner, Jason Cui.

Amazing to see what Michael Kobida & Rob Jauquet have built over the past year with Caladan Bio. Julian Moncada & I are excited for Factorial to continue to be involved alongside Collaborative Fund Twelve Below & Lerer Hippeau
Today we are excited to announce our $5 million seed round led by Twelve Below, with participation from Lerer Hippeau, Collaborative Fund, Wireframe Ventures, Factorial and Ritual Capital. We are thrilled to have such an experienced group of investors in our corner and look forward to executing our vision for Caladan Bio together. This round of capital will allow us to continue our rapid hardware and software development pace, grow our team and ship our first product line. Last summer, Rob Jauquet and I embarked on a mission to build better bioreactors for synthetic biology companies. The industry is massively slowed down by the cost and complexity of running benchtop bioreactor experiments - costing companies in the space tens of millions to get each product to market. Our goal is to reduce this by an order of magnitude by first reducing cost of hardware/consumables, and second greatly increasing the live data coming from our bioreactors - streamlining analysis and enhancing decision making. We are excited to announce that next week we will be debuting our first product - The Caladan 250 - at SynBioBeta in San Jose. The Caladan 250 is a benchtop bioreactor system that fully automates fermentation and cell culture experiments. We have focused on building a vertically integrated system that brings customers everything from consumables to sensors to data analysis software. The result is enabling scientists and engineers to spend more time on analysis and experiment design and less time setting up, cleaning, sterilizing, calibrating, organizing, sampling, merging data, etc. The next few years will be extremely transformative for Caladan and we are looking for engineers to join our experienced team to bring an amazing product to a rapidly growing market. If you are interested in automation x synthetic biology x ML/AI we want to hear from you! See you at SynBioBeta! - Mike https://lnkd.in/e-9ken5b

I wrote the below in my most recent update to our investors at Factorial and a few responded that it could be worth sharing it a bit more publicly. I’d love to hear if you have comments or perspectives on it. For context, over the past year, we have spent a lot of time in AI infrastructure, investing in companies such as Flower Labs, Nomic AI, Patronus AI, Modal Labs, Adaptive ML, Modelbit, Substrate, and LanceDB. With the proliferation of this infrastructure, we’re now starting to see real AI-native product design, led by teams at portfolio companies like Pika & Factory.
