We were thrilled to have Felipe Arango and Sugumar Raman represent Fair Trade USA at #COP16, the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, in Cali, Colombia. Connecting with leaders from Fair Trade Producer organizations to share our goals and impact is always inspiring. We collaborated with Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) to highlight the impact of regenerative agricultural practices and the significant investments made through Fair Trade Premiums— since 2014 over $2 million USD has been generated for producers in the Colombian states of Cauca and Nariño alone. These funds have increased access to potable water, provided crop insurance, empowered disaster relief, and secured pension plans for farmers. Fair Trade USA partners like Nespresso and the National Federation of Colombian Coffee Growers show the stark impact that commitment can drive. Our key takeaways from COP16: 🌱 Fair Trade USA will integrate TNFD’s nature impact metrics in our revised Fair Trade Agricultural Production Standards in 2025, moving beyond compliance and allowing Fair Trade Certified producer organizations to demonstrate social, economic, and environmental outcomes. 🌱We will continue to leverage the TNFD LEAP Framework to better manage nature-related risks and opportunities within our producer support activities. 🌱We aim to advance agency and financial resources to indigenous and rural communities, fostering resilience and driving just, nature-positive outcomes. #FairTradeUSA #TNFD #COP16 #JustTransition #IndigenousLeadership #COP16Colombia #BiodiversityConservation #NaturePositive #PurchaseWithPurpose #FairTrade #PeaceWithNature

Last week, the Fair Trade USA executive leadership team had the opportunity to visit community members in Medellin, Colombia. Meagan Siddiqui recapped their journey and shared incredible photos from the trip! ⬇️
I had the privilege of spending the past week in and around Medellin, Colombia with my fellow Fair Trade USA executive leadership team members: Felipe Arango, Dana Dufresne, Carlos Ruiz, Sugumar Raman, Ben Conard, Paul Rice. For the first time in my 2+ year tenure with FTUSA, I was able to experience the magical and eye-opening experience of “traveling to origin” - which means I was able to visit Edilberto Acevedo’s La Serenita coffee farm via the hospitality of Coopeoccidente, tour a wet-dry milling-roastery coffee processing plant built with Fair Trade premiums, and explore a The Valley Springs flower farm that distributes gorgeous hydrangeas to retailers in the US like Whole Foods Market , H-E-B, Wegmans Food Markets, & others! The connection I felt with the workers, farmers, and everyone I met reinforced why I work at Fair Trade USA and reignited my passion and excitement to improve livelihoods, protect the environment, and build resilient, transparent supply chains for everyone we serve! #purchasewithpurpose #FairTradeCertified #fairforall #sustainability #regenerativefarming #coffee

NatureSweet is leveraging their Fair Trade USA and B Lab U.S. & Canada commitments to double down on their support of agricultural workers across North America. Through both partnerships, NatureSweet has: 🌱 Provided associates 40% above minimum wage of agricultural workers in Mexico and approximately 25% above the median wage of competitors 🌱 Invested $4 million in livable wages, literacy, and educational opportunities 🌱 Offered eye and dental care to associates, providing first-time care for a large percentage of families Their continuous growth and support shows what’s possible when brands certify their sustainability and social change initiatives. We're thrilled to celebrate 10 years of partnership with Patagonia! 🎉 In the past decade, Patagonia has contributed over $31 million in Fair Trade Community Development Funds, positively impacting more than 85,000 workers. Patagonia now sources more than 90% of its products from Fair Trade Certified factories, supporting safe working conditions and more sustainable livelihoods for workers, families, and communities. As we mark #FairTradeMonth this October, we’re reminded of the power of collaboration in driving meaningful, scalable change. A heartfelt thank you to Patagonia for your unwavering commitment to ethical labor practices and for leading the way for other companies to join us in creating a world that is #FairForAll. 🌎
October is Fair Trade Month, and I’m proud of Patagonia's ongoing commitment to this important work. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Fair Labor Association and a decade of partnership with Fair Trade USA. Here are some lessons we’ve learned over the past 25 years and why we remain committed to supporting this cause for as long as it takes.
