Patiently waiting since our project kickoff meeting back in March of 2020, the literal day before COVID upended the City, we are excited to see the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Sculpture Garden Renovation project come to fruition! We provided a technical analysis of past construction documents, and many on-site field observations where we identified a handful of issues hindering one of the City’s most prominent open spaces. Strategic interventions were developed, documented, approved through DEB, and sent out to bid beautifying the garden while reestablishing long-term maintenance strategies, and introducing the locally sourced Virginia Jet Mist granite to the campus.   Repairs are expected to be completed in September of 2024. Project Team: Marshall Craft Associates, Fall Line, Salas O'Brien, and Centennial Construction Enterprises, Inc.

Recently, we partnered with the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) on a project to beautify the front entrance of the Calhoun Family Investment Center. We worked with local high school students to bring a planting design to life-- a design that focused on using native and adaptive species tailored to the microclimates of the area. After creating a colorful planting guide and budget, we spent a Friday in early April installing the plants together. This was a great opportunity for us to not only practice collaborative design, but also teach students about planting design, installation, and landscape architecture!
