Chili Cook-Off Recap! Yesterday’s Chili Cook-Off was epic! The office is still recovering from the spice overload, but the real question is: who took home the coveted Chili Champ title? Congrats to Blazin’ Anthony for his fiery five-alarm recipe! And props to Classic Connie for keeping things cozy with her traditional take. Amazing Anna wowed us with her Most Unique creation, and last but not least, Sizzlin’ Sam snagged the People’s Choice Award. Everyone brought the heat, but the real winners? Our taste buds! Liberty Trust Hotel - Originally built in 1910 as a Classical Revival-style bank and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this historic gem has been transformed into Roanoke’s newest boutique hotel. We're honored to bring new life to this iconic space while preserving its architectural legacy. Carolina Hotel Public Spaces at Pinehurst Resort - Inspired by historic photographs, the design team reinstated defining character elements in the public spaces of this North Carolina treasure, honoring its storied past while blending in modern touches. As a firm dedicated to historic preservation, we are thrilled and honored to be involved with two projects receiving Outstanding Preservation Project Awards this year from Preservation Virginia! First, we are incredibly proud of the restoration of the historic Waterford Mill. Glavé & Holmes was the lead architect for this restoration. This project was a labor of love, carefully reviving a treasured piece of Virginia’s history while preserving its unique character and cultural significance. We are honored to have worked with the Waterford Foundation and all who supported us in safeguarding this architectural gem for future generations. In addition, the Murray-Dick-Fawcett House in Alexandria—one of Old Town’s oldest and least altered residential structures, is being honored for recent exterior restoration work performed by the City of Alexandria. Stemming from this work, Glavé & Holmes was hired by the City to complete a full Historic Structures Report, and is now engaged in the development of a Master Plan for the property to assist the City with long range visions to open this important historic site to the public in coming years. This important project focused on documenting and preserving one of Alexandria’s earliest homes, ensuring its history and authenticity continue to enrich the community for years to come. G&H had an incredible site visit at the Botetourt Theatre at William & Mary! We were there to "scan" the building and get an accurate picture of the existing conditions. A big thank you to Brandon from Prologue for demonstrating how their cutting-edge technology works for building scans and generating 3D imagery of the interiors. This innovative approach is a game-changer for our projects, allowing us to capture every detail with precision.
